I've started thinking about whether we should look to sign a left winger in the summer.

I like the idea of him playing wherever the opposition is weakest, so yep, we're gonna need another left winger whether he stays or not

We have a better shape and fluidity if he is at least starting from the left imo. It's clear that he can change a game from the middle but I don't think he has the creative ability of a vdv and I think holtby would be better able to slip passes into bale, lennon, dembele and ade from a more central position.

Imo bale should start on the left and then come inside when the opportunity provides it. In the first half today we were far too close together at times and it makes us easier to defend against.

Why can't the manager see it. We’ve been chanting it for ages. He's fucking useless through the middle. Apart from that 1 game v Norwich what's he ever done roaming around the bloody pitch like he owns it...

A bit like the 'Bale at LB' thread earlier in the season! The guy is a monster at the moment.

He plays where he wants.
He scores when he wants.
He looks like a chimp.

Bale has proved me wrong so many times now. I was one of those who thought his future was at left back. FFS...

Makes you see how most footballs fans usually don't know what the fuck they are talking about. Its the same with everyone saying how Dawson would be unable to adapt to AVB's tactics, Sandro not being able to fill Parker's booths, AVB's lack of man managment skills, etc.

Well, I guess that puts this piece of journalistic excellence into perspective:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ngham-boss-Alex-McLeish-eyes-3m-defender.html

Spurs flop Gareth could Bale out in January as Birmingham boss Alex McLeish eyes £3m defender
Alex McLeish is lining up a move for Tottenham defender Gareth Bale when the transfer window opens in January.

Birmingham manager McLeish will have around £40million at his disposal following Carson Yeung's takeover and, according to the Daily Mirror, will spend £3m on the Spurs left-back.

Wales international Bale has had a torrid time since arriving at White Hart Lane from Southampton two years ago and has made just one start in the Premier League this season.

Rangers striker Kris Boyd, Celtic winger Aiden McGeady and Sporting Gijon's Michel have also been linked with moves to St Andrew's.

Also worth dipping into the comments section for pearls such as these:

LOL They paid £10 million for that gimp! Only Sp*rs could waste that kind of money. Maybe they should take Wenger's perspective on left backs and grow their own like Gibbs, Cole, Traore. Or purchase young bargains like Silvinho, Clichy for peanuts. But probably not, more money than sense that club

Bale is doing so well in a free role behind the striker, but he can play on the left, so dont really get this.

The lad can play where ever the fuck he wants if you ask me, he is carrying us as the rest of the team are playing very very averagely. He's genuinely formidable, and doing the jobs of about 3 players at the moment. World class is an acceptable statement for him this season.
