I thought everybody was decent really. Maybe BAE was not too good but not awful either.

Harry however, totally handed them the game by taking off the extra mid and putting Pav on. Why or why he did that I have no idea?

He could have brought on Niko, Pienaar moved Walker forward and brought on Kaboul, but what he did was the worst possible thing to do.

Good game, a draw was a fair result but I see that as 2 pts dropped and am very dissappointed.

Parker needs sit deep like he seemed to early in the season, then he might last the game. Let the younger man cover the whole pitch while you look good mopping up in front of the defence. Without his energy and VDV's persistence between the lines we just sat back for much of the second half. Ade was one foul away from a red card and Pav isn't going to chase and harry. The idea of Pav coming on to add further height to the front line made some sense, especially after he scored at the weekend but it really didn't work. As a few have already said, this could have been the time for Kranjcar.

What's with all the criticism of bae and walker? I thought the team performed very well against a very good Chelsea side and restricted them to very few opportunities in open play.
Modric drifted way inside from the right hand side effectively leaving walker as a wingback against Mata and Cole. I think he did very well. while bae although not at his best put bale on his way a few times and got.up to make a few crosses.

Yes Bae was at fault for the goal but so were a few others too.

Nearly every time BAE had the ball.....he gave it away by some stupid high kicking-looking for Crouch in front-balls. Awful.

Friedel - 7 - done well

Walker - 6 - Got pulled out of position before 1-1. Not his best game overall but not bad.
Gallas - 7 - done well
King - 7 - ditto
BAE - 5 - Hopelessly ballwatching and let Sturridge in for 1-1. Did some weird stuff.

VdV - 5 - Virtually anonymous.
Modric - 7 - Pulled the strings superbly in the first half, not quite as good in the second.
Sandro - 8 - MOTM - The beast is back, imperious performance.
Parker - 7 - done well.
Bale - 7 - Had a couple of chances where he should've done better, good game.

Adebayor - 7.5 - Held the ball up well, involved in a lot, had a goal wrongly chalked off and would've got the injury time winner but for Terry.

Pav - 4 - His one meaningful contribution the entire half was a sweet chest down and pass to Bale in the 91st minute. Really poor the entire rest of the half.

Bale, Sandro, Modric very good, game changed when Adebayor got booked and he stopped pressing the defenders.

I understood the notion of bringing on an international striker to play up top against a RB covering as a CB, but I completely lay the blame at Harry's door for bringing on Pav. The guy is a complete **** and gave the worst 45 mins I have seen in fucking years. Please fuck off you useless fucking ****.

Pav was worth less than 5.
Otherwise, more-or-less this - can't be bothered making minor adjustments, so this will do.

MOM -Sandro (the Beast of WHL :hump:).

Webb - complete twat.

Massive missed chance tonight. Chelsea were good, once they got a lifeline, but we had them on the ropes and there for the taken and just did not capitalise. In the end a draw was probably fair enough.

Also, felt that 'Arry felt like he had to start Gallas and he wasn't poor, but Kaboul/King wuld have been a better option.

There is no general theme or simple narrative for this game. There was some good stuff, some indifferent and some really poor stuff tonight.

The first ten-fifteen minutes we were all press, vigour and energy and this reaped it's reward, as we have seen on other occasions, most notably against Liverpool. But we then gradually reverted to a game of stand off and played deeper and deeper, until the last ten minutes when we seemed to get another grip on the game and finish strongly, in between we weren't terrible, but relinquished control of the game that I felt was there for the taking. a 60/40 possession first half became 49/51 second. Once again we saw our inability to play a consistent 90 minutes of the same brand of football. We allowed Chelsea back in to a game they had no business being in. They are a decent team, and old habits are dying hard in them, but that was the poorest Chelsea side I have seen in relation to ours for about 15 years.

We remain a side that can look devastating in possession marauding forward, but lethargic and undisciplined when we are not. Bale & Modric are terrible players when they don't have the ball. In the 52nd minute Modric just stands and watches as their player crosses the ball. No effort is made whatsoever to even pretend to close him down. It's fucking disgraceful for a player who normally expects to play cm. Bale is so direct and imposing when attacking, but when defending he meanders nonchalantly around like fart in fucking trance.

I said before the game that our full backs are our weakness and it was ultimately our full backs, ably assisted by VDV & King who cost us a goal tonight. What the fuck Walker is doing I have no fucking clue. seems to decide he's going to play cm all of a sudden leaving VDV on his own at rb. VDV gets a half hearted challenge in that is clearly going out until it hits Cole's hand, King is standing appealing instead of defending, Friedel is as usual stuck to his line like a limpit and Ekotto is standing composing his next jean-Paul Satre-esque ramble whilst Stuuridge calmly strolls past him and slots in a goal completely against the run of play.

Redknapp's decision to play Sandro and Parker in the middle worked well, and for long stretches in the second half kept us in the game, and let's not forget, this is the first time we have come away with a possession superiority against 11 men chelsea in recent years (last season they had 60+, the season before with ten men they had 60+) the decision to put VDV our wide right against this chelsea 433 was stupider than what it is normally.

The decision to play the second half with ten men was crazy.

Although various facets disappointed me, this was still probably one of the best over all performances against Chelsea in recent times. Last year's performance was diabolical. The year before against ten men, they still dominated the ball apart from a ten minute spell either side of half time when we scored and Terry got sent off, our subsequent wasted lethal breaks camouflaged what had been actually a poor performance the rest of the game. Tonight we were more robust, competitive and although stopped pressing high up half way through the first half, we did control long periods of the ball and finished the game pretty well, and most importantly, never let them completely dominate any phase.

I can't help but feel we didn't punish a Chelsea team that we should have, and that old failings are what cost us.

Ratings:

Friedel 5 - One good save, but spilt one that should have been buried by Sturridge and should have come out for the cross.

Walker 5 - A really poor footballer with lots of pace.

Gallas 8 - Very good performance.

King 7 - Poor for the goal, and there were also a couple of other moments where I thought "this isn't the old King".

Ekotto 5 - Diabolical defending for the goal, and generally not a good night.

VDV 6 - Played a beautiful ball through to Bale (I think). half a game.

Parker 7.5 - His little legs got a bit ragged second half I though. Not surprising seeing as him and Sandro do four peoples fucking work most of the time.

Sandro 8 - The man is a fucking robot. He just keeps going. This bloke never shirks responsibility or watches his man walz past him without chasing the fucker.

Modric 7 - On the ball he's great. Off the ball he's a liability at times. I think if he'd spent that game in cm the whole time, it would have turned into an even more open affair and we may have lost the battle for the ball and perhaps the game.

Bale 7.5 - was superb at times going forward and he is having a much more consistent season, seeing more ball in games than last season consistently, and I blame the coaching staff partly for this, but he has got to defend better.

Adebayor 7 - Did well for the goal, but I was a little disappointed at times tonight. I thought his touch was sloppy a couple of times, he stopped pressing in spurts and didn't see enough ball.

Thought Sandro, Modric and Bale were all excellent with only Benny, Pav and VdV letting us down a bit. Lots of positives against a team with unlimited resources and a £50m sub.

Sandro edges it as my Man of the Match if only for keeping the ball in with his head after making a great challenge near the touchline. Awesome.

Must not lose game and didn't lose AND we had more of the ball. That'll do me! COYS!

Friedel - 6 Didn't have too much to do - mainly because Chelsea kept missing sitters/the target. Poor for the Mata spill? Could he of done anything for their goal? Should he have come from the cross for the Ramires chance? Seemed to stay on his line during the farce at Stoke too, hmmmm.

Walker 6 - so so/poor clearances.

Ekotto 4 - terrible, just terrible. I used to hate the guy but started to like him as he was putting in quite a few solid performances but the last 3 matches - gone doolally again.

King 5 - awful defending for the equaliser - should have played to the whistle. Skinned by Sturridge, lucky to get a last ditch tackle in. Between him and Gallas, one of them should have picked up Ramires for the sitter that he missed.

Gallas - 6.

Modric - 6 Out of position :(

Parker 6.

Sandro 7 - average distribution but got stuck in/through himself into tackles.

VDV 5 - non existent in the 1st half.

Bale - 7.5, excellent 1st half, little service in the 2nd but still a good half.

Adebayor 6 - took his chance well but had little service.

Pavlyuchenko no rating - was he playing? Dreadful.
