rose is no benny but it's not easy coming into a side when he's probably played about 20 minutes this year, i have faith in him and think he'll do a solid enough job.

If Sandro had nabbed a goal he'd be a ten. To put in a performance like that and not even receive a yellow card, was astounding. He won the ball back so many times with pure doggedness and strength. I've always loved how he nips the ball away with great suppleness and little back lift of the leg, meaning that he doesn't give away too many fouls. If you watch Parker for instance, he's more of a dives in and goes to ground type of guy. Sandro often worms the ball away with upper body strength and a small touch of the ball.

Rose certainly gets marks for effort, but the application was lacking. I lost count of the amount of times he had so much time and space, particularly first half, to find a cross or pass in a very good position.

Bale was disappointing again. He's not at the top of the game either, not without more consistency.

Sandro was excellent, easily MOM for me. Shouts out to Kaboul (although nothing to do in a defensive capacity really) and VDV.

Great free kick by Walker, but I still feel he squanders so many good positions, but credit to him for getting into them. If he improves in those vital areas he'll be one of the best right backs in the world - but some way to go IMO.

There is something to like about Walker. Not afraid to bollock Modric today and even though he'll switch off now and again and get confused going forward, you can see that he's aggressive and he doesn't give up. A few of our boys could do with taking a leaf out of his book.

Yup.
What I was thinking today, watching that (and I don't want this to sound like I have a right downer on Bale - don't want him hounded out of the club for us or anything, as hopefully he will be a great player for us for years to come), was that I couldn't see him going the way fo Bale. I couldn't see him sometimes not looking like he is putting the effort in, or he thinks his barnet is more important than the result, or that he's a flash ponce, nothing.

I think he is another one we will be including in our stars corner. And one to thank Redknapp for, along with Naughton, hopefully.
BCs downer on him is one fo the most bizarre thangs on SC :)

Yeah he's got a great attitude - he really does want to win.

Yeah he's tenacious and honest at least - he's very young and has lots to learn, most importantly composure which will inform his decision making. I'd like to see him sling more crosses in first time - if he does it enough the players will know what to expect and get in the right positions eventually. Right now he checks too often and misses the opportunity, maybe because people aren't in good positions but if he just bangs it in all the time they'll soon learn. I disagree with BC that he lacks technique, he's certainly not the best technician in our squad by a long way but he's good enough - he just needs to be more composed which will come with age I hope...

not really a bollocking, more biting back. It was when Walker left a ball which had clearly stayed in and did not play to the whistle, Modric must've said somehthing and Walker reacted.

Even so, I like that he's not afraid to have a go at senior players. Didn't he tear into Friedel as well recently?

I was surprised he took the free kick, what happened....did he just grab the ball, or did VDV or somebody offer it to him?

Was a bit of a surprise, wasn't it - I was expecting Kaboul to barge in and give it one of his kabooms

Definitely Sandro for me, but Walker caused me to laugh aloud for the first time while watching Spurs in a long time.

What I love best about the goal was the commentator's 'Ohhhhh!' before the ball went in. It really was a sweet, sweet strike.

I agree with a lot of that, steve, but I feel he gets the ball stuck under his feet too much at the moment. He often takes people on and gets his pocket picked either from knocking the ball straight at them or overrunning it-that sort of thing. Maybe you're right and he's just missing a bit of composure but I have my doubts. He swung in a tasty looking cross today, really wrapped his foot around it and I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of that.

Lennon drove me around the twist today.

vdv put the ball down and walker asked if he could take it. vdv said no then changed his mind

That was the one excellent cross he put in, no messing about he just whipped it in and it had goal written all over it but they just about cleared it. That was second half, but he needs to do this more.

Yeah, Beckham would have been proud of it.
