Sorry but Kaboul can't be no more than a 6. He essentially cost us the game.

Dimwitted ESPN Bint: "Some up that game Harry"

Redknapp: "Don't know how we lost it"

I've got some ideas, in fact, for once, I think the majority will even agree on some of them.

Dropping our most creative and productive player to accommodate a formation and formula that almost certainly cost us CL football last year wasn't very clever. Keeping Bale on the right where he was clearly making no tangible contribution for 95% of the game was just plain fucking stupid.

I have absolutely no idea what the third substitution was about.

The 442, with Bale right and Modric left just made us predictable and easy to play and stop. Even in the second half when they dropped deep and allowed us shit loads of ball, we were so predictable. Having more strikers doesn't automatically make for more chances. Why does Redknapp constantly forget lessons he learns over and over. Playing two players in wide positions that constantly come inside gave us no variation, no width to stretch the game and as a result Everton had an easy time preventing us from creating.

And what the fuck is it with our set pieces. They are fucking atrocious. I cannot think of a worse team in the EPL than us with set pieces. It just looks like a complete lack of preparation and planning, resulting in terrible execution.

The general effort in the second half was good, and we had plenty of ball, but Redknapp just did not react tactically to what was happening in front of his eyes. It was so glaringly obvious it was unbelievable. Redknapp's fond of saying it's a simple game, but how much more simple can it be than putting our only player who can power past opponents in the right part of the pitch where he can do it, for at least a good chunk of the game.

I think it was a good decision to play Parker and Sandro, I think that worked, it was what he did around that pair that didn't. Two strikers, no VDV, Bale right just left us devoid of threat and intelligence.

It wasn't a terrible effort from the players, especially second half, but they were severely hamstrung by some poor tactics.

Ratings:

Friedel 6 - OK

Walker 6.5 - Pace and willing but intelligence and craft missing. Really doesn't offer much at all in an attacking sense.

Kaboul 6 - Second half he was very good but first half he was poor, humped the ball a couple of times and was really fucking naive with the goal.

King 6.5 - Has gone downhill fast. Wasn't terrible today but just doesn't look like the player he was. Looks very ordinary and a little awkward at times.

Ekotto 7 - Played ok going forward second half. Defending will always be his a chiles heel.

Bale 6.5 - Saw a bit of ball, tried hard, but was left dangling by Redknapp's bizarre decision to leave him right for so much of the game.

Sandro 6.5 - Did what he does. OK

Parker 7 - Did what he does. Also played Defoe through.

Modric 6.5 - first half he was just poor, and he's played LM plenty so that's not an excuse. He was better second half, but again, in Redknapp's muddled tactics he never really figured our what he should be doing.

Adebayor 4 - Not great today at all, but was again another victim of the tactics. Even on on off day, he still saw more ball and made the same passes in 55 minutes than Defoe did in 90. But this was an off day, and his effort wasn't good enough at times.

Defoe 6 - He worked hard, but I just think when he plays we rely on the slim pickings of getting him into a shooting position, as opposed to creating a wider variety of different chances when he doesn't. He just isn't the best option for the other players we have. Adebayor gets very little from playing next to him for example.

Saha 6 - Did OK when he came on. Missed a sitter though.

Redknapp has made some good decisions this season, but I just do not understand how he keeps making the same bad ones. Away from home particularly.

Saha is a quality player. He is like Adebayor and Defoe without their shitness. Definitely worth keeping next season

Needs to play upfront with VDV behind

BC you really have no idea what the third sub was about?

Livermore is quick to spot a pass, Parker is not.
Livermore is far more incisive/bold with his passing than Parker.
It was at a stage where they were practically camped, and ok it made little/no difference but come on it's clear to see why it was made.

B07 Saha is like Defoe and erm... Saha...? I wish i was like myself without my bad points

Really ? Livermore is quick to spot a pass ? Can you give me some evidence of this ? I don't think he's any quicker to see a pass than Parker. Neither are exactly Iniesta are they ?

The thing with Bale not closing down properly reared it's ugly head for the goal. Makes a completely half arsed stroll towards Baines before he makes the pass.

Also the ref was poor today, seemed to allow several fouls on our players to go. The one where Fellani slices him up in the air was ridiculous.

It's not just that Defoe offers little on the passing, link team play side, it's his inability to get his head up sometimes and see team mates in better situations in and around the box. Again today on at least three occasions he needs to get his head up and play a pass to a team mate in a better position.
