I don't usually do ratings but i'm bored so here you have it:

Friedel 8
Walker 7
Dawson 8
King 8
Assou-Ekotto 7
Livermore 7
Modric 6
Parker 9
The face of PG Tips 6 (for some reason he irritated me tonight)
Kranjcar 6
Adebayor 6

Saha 6

I think the management could have shown a bit more faith and tried to win the game rather than what appeared to be an attitude of we're short so we'll set up so as not to lose. Nevertheless, we'd have all taken the point and that's what we got.

I think based on effort alone our Croatian duo deserve a much better mark than parity with Ade and Bale who put in jack shit tonight for the team.

Are you purposely forgetting the umpteen crucial challenges and blocks that Parker put in tonight? He hit a few bad passes first half, but the positive far, far, faaaaaaaaaar outweighed any negative.

Unless you are being a WUM I cant see how you have reached this conclusion of his performance based on what you watched tonight. Its so wrong.

If we were aiming for a draw, blocks and clearances are what I would expect. He did very well in the last 10 minutes as thats his game; backs to the wall defending.. However in the first half and the early parts of the second half when it came to playing football and actually trying to go for a win he didn't help at all. Continuously made the wrong pass or mispassed the ball forcing our team under pressure. The amount of times he returned the ball back when their where options available was too much. Gerrard also totally outclassed him despite being half fit.

Daws puts in these blood and guts displays every week get his head on the end of every ball even if there is a boot next to it. He however gets a lot of vitriol from fans on this board. I think its one rule for fans favourites and one for the others.

And no i'm not a Wum i've been a Spurs supporter since before parker started kicking balls around in mcdonalds adverts.

Livermore 8 very mature performance
Parker 9 Parker
Modric 7 very good first half, less involved second

PArker MOM by a mile.

Special mention for Kranjcar as well. Played very well and even defended excellently as well. We need to use him more often.

Our defenders were superb as well. Whoever was worried about Dawson playing clearly do not remember how good this boy is.

A good point, considering we were so bereft of ideas upfront.

I expect an improved performance next match. Bring on the Barcodes.

The attacking side of our game was disappointed though, I know Defoe and VdV were out but watching Cisse yesterday for NEwcastle really makes me wonder if we missed a trick not taking a gamble on him to kick on from now til the end of the season

friedel 8 - first time i've seen him come off his line all season, did well

walker 7 - defended well, ineffective going forward
dawson 7.5 - did everything well
king 7.5 - as above
ekotto 6.5 - not at his best but not bad

livermore 8 - passed, tried to make runs off the ball but was rarely found, pressed everywhere
parker 7 - poor 1st half but a typical blood and guts parker performance in the 2nd half
modric 6.5 - thought he was playing too high up and needed to be alongside livermore/parker more to dictate play as he did against norwich. did ok

kranjcar 7.5 - defended brilliantly and a defence splitting through ball to put bale in
bale 5 - an off night, top movement for his chance but never really looked convincing when in on goal
ade 5 - probably a generous rating, a real invisible performance, rubbish touch

saha 6 - tried, but came on when we were under the cosh
rose 6 - default, not sure he touched the ball

Friedel- 8 - First time hes looked assured for me and brave too.

Walker 7.5 - Very good defensively, did a heck of a lot of running as he so often has to att and def against 2 players alone.
Dawson - 7 - Was very good, not better than king tho imo. He let Carroll win few too many headers, and stood off a little. Some meaty blocks though.
King 8.5 - Awesome..... back to imperious best.
BAE 5.5- Too casual actually annoyed me.

Bale - 5.5 - Was isolated, marked out of the game. Wish he tried harder, bad miss at the end too.
Krancjar - 7.6- Best shift ive ever seen him put in. Rarely loses the ball too, very impressed today. Beautiful pass to bale.
Livermore 7.5 - Great performance. Ran a lot, positionally excellent and composed on the ball. Improving well.
Modric 7.5 - Immense first half, dropped off second a little as we wer pinned back. Often kept the ball from 3 players, just couldnt get it off them.
Parker 9 - Was everwhere, defensively makes us the team we have become. Brilliant

Ade - 6 - Touch was off and wasnt match sharp. Still slotted in and defended well from the front.

Saha- 7 - Did all he could won headers and held ball up pretty well. Impressed.

I think ppl are getting ahead of themselves. With our lack of squad depth today, plus the manager, we did very well. We obviously had a game plan, to strike on counter attack. Unfortunately Bale and Ade werent at the races. Oh well one point is good enough.

I think I was watching a different game to many. In the one I watched Kranjcar was superb, while Livermore was well below par - his passing is always sideways or backwards and he doesn't retain possession well enough for a team challenging for the title. As I have mentioned in another thread, I think the Parker - Livermore combination is a horrible one that I would like us to avoid in the future - it absolutely kills our game. I think both players can play the DM role effectively, but we need a player with real passing ability in CM, ala modric. Parker was superb today so IMO we should have sacrificed Livermore for Saha to give Ade some support and try and win the game. I will take the hard fought point, but it was a game I feel we had to win to keep our title dreams alive. On a positive note, it was great to see the real Kranjcar back, tackled well, retains possession in tight areas brilliantly - and that pass to Bale was pass of the season material, shame Bale fluffed it.

Agree with lots of this especially Brad's ratings. Thought Parker was poor first half too but absolutely immense defencively 2nd half

Thank fuck for Parker's industry and Liverpool's lack of plan B. Great teams have great players, great work ethic and great desire to win. Unfortunately this was another game that looked more like one out of three. Against a very hard working but not overly creative Liverpool side we showed virtually zero desire to win this game and seemed content to let them press us (and not even hard pressed) out of any kind of game. Every time we've played a decent team this season we've looked pretty ordinary and un-coordinated for much of the game.

Rarely was there a gap of less than 5 metres every time a Liverpool player had the ball until it reached the defence where Dawson, Kind and particularly Walker were very good at dealing with what was a pretty unimaginative Liverpool attack.

If Liverpool had tried anything other than continually humping it for Carroll, they may have took the points.

I don't expect every day to be Bale's day, but when it isn't he's got to break into fast walk at the very fucking least. He's not good enough to get away with the fucking half hearted effort he put in tonight. When it's not his day he's got to work for the team.

The way we stand off drives me fucking nuts. And we were lazy in possession tonight as well. Third game running where we've looked decidedly fucking lethargic.

Ratings:

Friedel 8 - Played well tonight.

Walker 8 - Defensively his best game for a long time. Not very good going forward but his defending was very good.

Dawson 8 - The continual hump to Carroll was perfect for Dawson, his type of game and he was very good tonight.

King 8 - Good game, very calm.

Ekotto 6 - His big hair really fucks with his game. Turned his back on shots and crosses, got caught in possession and humped aimlessly a few times.

Kranjcar 7 - Saw quite a lot of ball and played the pass of the game. Helped out a bit defensively and was OK no more.

Parker 8.5 - Possibly saved us from the fate that we deserved. Was everywhere.

Modric 7.5 - Did a lot of work on the ball and tried to keep us ticking but wasn't great off it at times.

Livermore 6 - Was anonymous for big chunks of that game. Does simple things competently but doesn't really excel at anything. Doesn't press brilliantly, isn't the most dynamic as he jogs more than he sprints, doesn't see shitloads of ball and doesn't get his foot in a lot. Doesn't really bomb forward. He's competent, especially against ordinary sides, but not much more. Jenas lite.

Bale 5 - I don't understand why he isn't subbed on night s like tonight. His work rate was poor, his decision making terrible. He needs a game rest and a fucking good kick up the arse. I watched him surrender possession a few times and just stand there and fucking shrug or whine to the ref. Go and chase the fucking ball and get it back.

Adebayor 5.5 - Was a bit isolated and not very well supported but was still a bit disappointing. His touch was off a couple of times and his decisions were as well. He gave up too easily a few times as well but did show and work other times, often on his own against two or three players.

I thought that was a decent looking team and had no problem with the side we put out, I just wish we had some fucking ethos and that we'd stop letting some of these called "stars" think they are too pretty to do the ugly things properly.

I knew that ManC wouldn't enhance our belief, and so it is proving. The three games we've played since have been very poor and the characteristic shown has been anything other than belief or confidence.

Agree with most of this.

Would probably give Parker an 8 for his second half performance alone, it was pretty epic.

Walker impressed from a defensive point of view tonight, thought he was class actually but wasn't great going forward.

Completely agree with those comments on Livermore as well.
