Well i just feel it's gone now for us, you can tell by the body language of the players. It's going to be very difficult to get fourth now. Newcastle are flying and we are in a terrible state and we are having to play teams fighting for their lives. We should all be sat with our feet up, just wondering who is going to finish fourth. It could be disastrous if we don't get fourth, you can bet Modric is probably wanting away regardless, would VDV stay? Barca may have pop for bale. Any of those top names getting slung about when we were within reach of top spot, even if they were realistic in the first place, certainly won't be now.

I know BC won't agree but i wish Dawson was fit and Huddlestone.

ps I was only doing it to wind you up steve, it's saturday night(well sunday morning) and i was bored, sorry i won't do it again mate.
Yeah I think we'll struggle now mate and it could be a disaster as you point out with Mod etc. I think we'll win next week at home but after that who knows?? We didn't see any of this coming before or after the Arse game but it does mirror last season in some ways although we're a better side now which is the killer.

No worries mate I'll try and resist from calling people 'whining pussies' in future I think...how does 'whinging faggots' sound instead? ;)

Finished with him now starting on me eh ?

Dawson in goal and Plodderstone up front instead the six year old child we played ? Might have worked.

Which was a big deal. But you know what Pinky, I think 0 - 0 HT and H backs his starting 11 and we grind them down 2nd half maybe bringing on Lennon later to stretch tired legs. Instead we conceded an awful goal (from their only chance), QPR have summink to cling to and defend, their crowd go mad, we start to panic, H loses his bottle and we get desperate and lose our shape.

The goal annoys me because it was a dolly really. I mean a top corner wonder goal you say fair enough but that today was as bad as dropping it in the net for me. Watch it again and see what you think.
0-0 at half time he probably keeps it the same, i agree with that steve...

Extra pair of hands in the South Upper bar you mean ?
BC, if you think we were creating much today I'll do my nut in I swear to fuck!

Anyway, the season we finished fourth he played more games than anybody else, and we won't get near 70 points this season despite having a vastly superior first eleven and squad...go figure!!!!

Slightly tongue and cheek by the way!

I don't really know what to say about today, just deeply gutted, I absolutely adored playing in the Champions League last season and the thought we might not be there next season and potentially lose our best players because of it is utterly depressing.

First half I thought we were good, we moved the ball around and had 70% of the ball, we clearly missed Ade but I thought if we keep that up for 90 mins we would grind them down eventually. It pisses me off that these supposed 'experts' on TV keep banging on about how the Spurs of early season played quicker and were far more dangerous, bollocks. How the fuck can you hit QPR with pace when they fucking sit on their goalline for 90 minutes, we need more craft not more fucking headless chickens. We destroyed Newcastle with pace because Pardew committed tactical suicide and played a high line and came to 'give it a go', Bale destroyed Norwich with his pace when Norwich were obliged to come out and search for an equaliser, the first and decisive goal came through a patient and craft built approach. We can destroy any team on the planet with pace, but that is contingent on them giving us the opportunity to in the first place.

In games like this we need more craft to unlock defences that don't poke their noses out of their own penalty area, although in Redknapp's defence he was hardlly bestowed with much craft on the bench to find an angle, and in the end panicked at HT and brought Lennon on who was entirely ineffective. We still dominated possession but we just had one more player ahead of the ball waiting for the opposition to push up the pitch like that was ever going to happen. We have craft in VDV and Modric, but not a lot else especially in wide areas which can be decisive when playing teams who sit so deep which is an area I think we should be improving in the summer, we also don't have great movement ahead of those 2 either which is sort of necessary. Vision is fuck all if have you no-one moving intelligently. We used to have Keane making intelligent runs with Zokora and Jenas on the ball, today we have Defoe and Bale standing still while we have VDV and Modric on the ball.

It's all just shit really, really shit.

Huddletone makes Wilkins look quick and incisive.

Deadly serious by the way.

All this is spot on and its why I refuse to label that as a good performance, it wasn't. Never mind the 70% possession. A ridiculous comparison maybe, but look at the possession Barca had the other night and the chances they created. They had 7 glorious chances, we had none of that ilk.

We played pretty well up until the final third, where it counts, and then we had nothing - that is the bottom line.

Bale - 4 Where were you playing? I suspect it's not your fault, but play on the fucking left ffs.
I'd have thought given how massive his ears are he'd have heard the fans singing "Gareth Bale he plays on the left" for pretty much the entire first half. But no.

Good post. The commentators were really getting on my fucking tits today. It was bad enough watching that prick Savage masquerading as a footballer, now we have to listen to his banal bullshit as a pundit.

But you sum up the problems perfectly.

I think this kind of problem is a difficult obstacle to overcome when you are trying to make that transition between a good team to a top, ball dominating team like we aspire to be. Teams sit deeper and suddenly the likes of Lennon and Bale don't have room in behind to wreak havoc. Possessional football is historically frowned upon in this country, and when teams like us find it hard to break down a 10 man wall the commentators almost triumphantly point out how 'it don't mean a fing if you don't put the ball in the net' etc - well quite, but what they fail to grasp is that having possession even in less than dangerous areas is not just a means to an end in itself, it's about the gradual breakdown of the opposition mentally and physically. That's why I have sung the praises of our game at Norwich to the point of boredom, we stuck at our game and moved the ball around from side to side until eventually VDV found Ade with a perfect ball in who in turn found Bale in the slightest pocket of space. All that supposedly meaningless possession had eventually paid off. Today we were doing the same, but the goal changed Redknapps mindset, i'm convinced - and bringing on Lennon was the panic button. In mitigation we didn't have anyone on the bench that offered us that bit more guile on the ball, although in the past Harry has overlooked Kranjcar to bring on Lennon/Defoe. Those kind of players are good at exploiting space, but we need more players who create it and see that space in the first place.

In recent seasons we've been allowed more space by the opposition, never have I seen us have 70% of the ball at an away game before this season and we need to improve that part of our game, more patience in our approach, more craft and better off the ball movement. We've shown we can do this, but as I've said a few times Redknapp doesn't seem to entirely trust this - he has been schooled in the british 4-4-2, up and at them, direct etc way of doing things. He seems to be in conflict with his old methods and this new fangled continental stuff that seems to be big in Spain right now!

Ultimately our problems stem from several areas, recently I have become convinced our players have been overplayed and have lost that sharpness which was turning similar performances into wins earlier this season, the rub of the green may have deserted us a bit, poor tactical decisions and inherent poor habits have let us down which has been done on SC time after time. Under Redknapp I think 4/5th is probably our limit and our bad run can probably be described as a regression to the mean, it just looks really bad that our season is defined by 2 contrasting runs. It just comes down to the fact that we need someone who can push those various small margins into our favour that Redknapp hasn't managed.

Now that's all a bit rambled I apologise, I am tanked to the gills with gin, but I hope you get my drift.

I knew if we conceeded first we were going to be in deep shit on a small pitch and 11 ***** parked in their half. But top managers find solutions and thats where Harry gets off.
Our 2nd half formation was free for all and In the end we had 5 wide men on and a midget up front,it was absolute torture.

Why the fuck didn't we play 3-4-3 when they went down to 10 or even at HT? bale ,vdv with JD up front, rose on the left and azza on the right ,parker and luka sitting, with walker making a 3 man defence.

I think Pink has it here . Last season(and the season before for some) it became obvious we needed strengthening up front and yesterday the nightmare of having zero upgrade occurred with Ade and Saha injured . I hear people complain that our wingers
weren't on their respective touchlines...but making it to the byline they then have to cross ...
...To Defoe !?!? He has a magical ability to disappear in these situations . With no strikers worth mentioning we needed the other players to threaten . Their roaming would be part of this .

There was one moment where Mods ,on the ball in our half found himself in trouble with a coupla QPR players closing him down.
a feint here a twist there and they disappeared . Mods can go past players..I find myself shouting at the tv to get him to do this
higher up the pitch . The year we got 4th, final game which we lost btw....suddenly Mods zips past a defender in the box and slams in a consolation goal . He can do this . Yesterday we desperately needed him on offence .

And yes , I agree we rely more on individual brilliance than most teams...and this has obvious drawbacks .

Terrible time to be a Spurs supporter.....but we'll survive . I think we're looking for a fresh start next season with new management/players .

Oh yeah and watching Ledley makes me wince .The man is clearly in pain .When play is dead you can see him hobble about teeth clenched . Oh lordy , seasons end can't come quick enough !

Friedel 4 - Should have saved the free kick, had little else to do.
Walker 5 - Did ok, no one got past him.
King 6 - As above.
Gallas 5 - Parted like the red sea at one point but not a difficult game.
BAE 5 - His crossing has got to improve.
Parker 5 - Looks tired out there.
Modric 5 - Doesnt really care anymore, time for him to go methinks.
Sandro 6 - Run his brazilian b*llocks off for 45.
Bale 3 - STAY ON THE EFFING LEFT, YOU ARE NOT MESSI!!!
VDV 5 - Tries harder than any player out there.
Defoe 0 - Who? Oh sorry so we actually did have an 11th man out there? He calls for starting games then when he does he plays like that! I would have prefered Giovani to start with Rafa up top!
