I don't see Defoe starting. That's why Harry gave him the game midweek. Lennon got the game to get minutes into him and I therefore see him starting.

Friedel

Walker Kaboul King Assou-Ekotto

Lennon Parker Modric Bale

van der Vaart

Adebayor

Subs. Cudicini, Defoe, Giovani, Kranjcar, Bassong, Pienaar, Livermore

Maybe if JD hadn't got the only goal. i think it will be very hard for Harry not to start JD for a player who has been out injured...JD will start imo and azza will come on 2nd half.imo.

I agree with the OP and most other teams, Lennon back on the right and VdV central behind Adebayor.

Id also like to see Bale stick to the left more and rather than just roam around for all the match as we have seen recently.

Maybe. It's not what I'd like to see though. I don't think you can ever get the best from VDV if Defoe is playing.

The team picks itself but it's hard to drop Defoe on current form, he's getting goals. I'd like to see the team most people have picked though:

Friedal

Walker Kaboul King BAE

Lennon Parker Modric Bale

VDV Adebayor

Will Defoe start in place of Lennon with VDV on the right though? I dunno. And will Ledley be fit? He hasn't played since pre-Christmas so he should be in with a shout. Would like to see him play this one and then rested for the Man City game.

We don't know this though and we don't know what Lennon will feel like after yesterday's game. I've got a feeling he might be up for a cameo rather than a start, though I most certainly think we're a better team with him in there.

We should rather comfortably beat Everton at home though so no need to be overly cautious defensively, and with Defoe proven himself again and again in front of goal this season he might be the right choice for this (even though I personally don't think so) and it could also be tricky for Harry to drop our top goal scorer having scored in his last two and five in his last six EPL starts or whatever it is again.

We'll see. At the end of the day the only choice to be made. The rest of the team picks itself.

Think we don't need to worry too much about CB as Everton are pretty pants upfront. Happy enough to go with Bassong in this game.
Main threat will be Baines, so wouldn't start Rafa on the right. hopefully Lennon is fit enough to play and start.
Jagielka is out so tempted to go with Defoe and Ade but Harry will probably go with VDV to start and Defoe coming on after 60-65.

King will probably be fine to play, expect Daws coming in against Wolves.

want;

friedel
walker
kaboul
king/bassong/dawson - in that order
ekotto
lennon
parker
modric
bale
vdv
adebayor

but think defoe will start instead of lennon and dawson will play as ledley's most likely out and i highly doubt harry would choose bassong over dawson.

i wouldn't play a 50% match sharp dawson over bassong who has done a good job when called upon recently.

If he is fit enough Lennon will and must play.

We have been struggling to find a shape since he has been out and Harry has mentioned this a number of times.

The 4-4-1-1 is unquestionably our strongest team imo. Defoe has done very well this season and has scored goals but the simple fact is that he just doesn't contribute enough other than goals. Against west brom he did sod all except score and we struggled to break them down. Vdv behind Ade with Lennon on the right is the way to go.
