Surely it's better having him in there than Pienaar or Kranjcar though?

The only other alternative is shifting Kaboul into midfield but that leaves Dawson and Bassong at the back which isn't ideal either.

The problem is that Everton are likely to pack the midfield (because they have no strikers) so we need to come up with something to deal with that.

Four attacking midfielders may have worked against Cheltenham but I don't think it will against Everton.

We do need a DM so I'd have Livermore there. Then the usual of Lennon, Bale, Modric and VDV off Adebayor and we'll unlock what will be a very defensive, stubborn Everton unit.

At least we should have good options coming off the bench so we can change things up accordingly in Lennon, Defoe, Kranjcar and Dawson.

I think Parker will play....otherwise he would be ruled out completely. Don't see what difference 24 hours is really going to make....Harry holding his cards close to his chest etc...

Not sure what some people are basing Pienaar ahead of Lennon on? Is it the great win ratio we have with the Lennon and Bale on either wing system? Is it the consistently high level of protection for his full back that Lennon provides? Or is it Pienaars poor performances?

I'd go with BBLG's line-up as well. The only way Livermore will improve is to play games. With Sandro and Parker around he won't get many chances and Everton at home will be a decent game for him to learn in.

Hopefully the AdeBaleyor partnership will continue as Everton are a pretty tough team to score against when they are playing away.

Is it worth risking Parker if we could have Modric and Livermore together? Livermore is a perfectly good player and quite capable of playing against the standard of players Everton have. The only real threat on their team is Fellaini and to a lesser extent, Drenthe.

I'd go:

Brad
Kyle
Younes
Seb
Benny
Aaron
Jake
Luka
Gareth
Rafa
Manu

Good news about Everton's bad injury news. They'll miss Jagielka, Osman, Rodwell and Cahill big time. Hopefully, Coleman won't start either and they'll be properly sh*t!

That said, if Parker doesn't play we'll definitely need Livermore's strength in the middle to counter Fellaini.

Everton will probably play a 5 man midfield and it would be alot to ask of Livermore and Modric to take control of the game in that situation. Pienaar would tuck in more than Lennon would and would be able to help out in that area. We'd still have the width with Walker on that side and it wouldn't mean that VdV would have to drop too deep to keep picking up the ball.

I think with a genuine ball winner like Parker or Sandro we can get away with 2 against 3 in the middle, but I'm not so sure with Livermore.

I've a feeling you could have your finger on the pulse in terms of what Harry is thinking.

If Parker doesn't make it, Livermore in...with Pienaar starting from the right and tucking in.

It just gives us a little more grit and a chance to compete in the middle of the park by playing both Livermore and Pienaar to compensate for not having Parker or Sandro.

Good stuff, fingers crossed they're a bit depleted come kick-off, although I was kind of relishing the prospect of Bale running at Hibbert lol

Reading on BBC that Parker will face a late fitness test again so harbouring some hope that he still might play.

I still think he will start.

This is my thinking behind playing Pienaar too.

If we are still looking for the elusive first goal come 60mins then i've no doubt Lennon will be introduced to not only provide width and pace, but to hopefully open the game up and make us a bit more expansive in our play.

I worry about Donovan & Drenthe for Everton. I don't want to see VDV on the wing.

Agreed.

Having said that Everton will pack the midfield, I'm not sure they've got the midfielders to do that. Moyes reckons it'll be largely the same team as against Tamworth and that included Gueye and Anichebe upfront with McFadden and Donovan out wide. I imagine Drenthe will play instead of McFadden but don't know who else they'd play in midfield.

If they are going to go 4-4-2 themselves then Lennon should play.

Realistically then Everton's team is likely to be:

Howard

Neville Heitinga Distin Baines

Donovan Feillani Bilyawotsit Drenthe

Saha Gueye

If that's their team it should actually be a very open game which should suit us.
