As usual I will wait till we are 27-0 up with 4 seconds to go.

In the possibly unlikely event that that happens, a win on Saturday will see us top of the table untill Monday. Unless United beat Bolton 12-0. But that would just be silly...

Didn't realise that was right after the Inter game, but I suppose they both perfectly demonstrated in my mind the best way to handle Bale, and of course the worst. Maicon sat off (with bugger all help it must be said) and trusted his pace, but it was clear after 10 minutes that he couldn't get within 5 postcodes of Bale that night. Neville though got right up Bale's arse, didn't let him turn and he was nullified.

I would start with Bale ahead of Benny as standard tomorrow, but would certainly have Bale as LB as a go to option if we are struggling to break them down.

Forgot about Lennon too, I actually think that Lennon is possibly a little better than Bale at playing in cramped spaces in and around the box, an area Bale needs to improve on a bit. When there is space in front of him to attack, there are very few in world football who are as scintillatingly scary and effective.

Be very interesting to see what H goes with, I think in order to keep this title push going 'til the Spring he may need to be a bit more bold and innovative tactically to keep winning these type of games - early goal would be lovely, it's all about the first goal.
Totally agree and was going to raise the same point. His acceleration as well can help create space by pulling them out of position for a split second.

Harry will need to be imaginative tactically when required, as teams will be preparing to nullify our strengths when they come to the Lane.

It's funny when people talk about us getting the early goal.

Often this season, it's after we've scored that we struggle. Fulham, West Brom, Chelsea, Swansea, Newcastle, Wigan etc

Always a tough game against Everton, underestimate them at your pearl.
FA cup semi against Everton, I and most people thought we would beat them pretty easily but...

4 of those 6 were away from home where teams mentality is different, so not as relevant to home games where we have to break down 2 deep banks of 4. We struggled to break down West Brom before we scored, but I think the reason we struggled afterwards was due to all our CMs who could actually put in a tackle were injured.

I think you know what I (and others mean), and I have taken the Kendall bait once again. SC is better with you around though, just try not to get banned again...

I know what your saying, I just don't think that it's ever as simple as saying the early goal settles the nerves or opens the other team up for us to exploit. We more often than not invite pressure on ourselves. We did it against the Goons too.

Of course it's never so black and white simple, but when teams come to WHL where a draw is the peak of their ambitions, the longer the game goes without a goal the deeper and more hell bent on defending at all costs they will get. If you score early, most teams will continue to defend and hopefully nick something late on. It's tough whichever way you look at it really.

The next stage on from this is rather than teams coming to WHL and parking the bus with a draw in mind is like what teams do to Man Utd, go up there and rest key players, 'give it a right go' and get slaughtered!

Sky Sports seem to have left out Bale for some reason!!

Possible starting XIs

Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Pienaar, Modric, Livermore, Van der Vaart, Defoe, Adebayor.

Everton: Howard, Neville, Heitinga, Distin, Baines, Bilyaletdinov, Fellaini, Drenthe, Donovan, Gueye, Saha.

If we're patient tonight, we should do it.

From a defensive point of view, we need to make sure we don't give away silly frees, etc.

Leighton Baines could be Everton's biggest attacking threat tonight - whoever plays out on the right in front of Walker will need to help track him

** As usual, we'll have a small team playing tonight **

The 'Neville marked out Bale' thing pisses me the fuck off. He didn't. What stopped Bale was being triple marked by Neville, Coleman and always on of the DMs. What stopped Bale was that in the first minute Neville butchered Bale and didn't get cautioned, basically giving him the go ahead to kick Bale all game. If he'd received the booking he should have, Bale would have pissed all over him, tired or not. I'm pretty sure that tonight the record will be straightened and Neville the Lane with his sphincter so loosened that it's hanging out his arsehole and dragging along Bill Nicholson way.

I wrote this with anger.

Did you have to bring that up again!! Probably my worst away day along with the 6-1 defeat at Burnden Park

We'd played so brilliantly the previous round at Anfield, which was a fantastic day out

I think that's why we all thought we'd stuff Everton on the day. Having Nethercott right back I think, didn't help!!!

Ditto, that was my first season of really following the club, the first season my dad took me to White Hart Lane (Wimbledon defeat and Man City win) and I still remember being so gutted when I watched the highlights from that game.

I'm glad to see that Coleman won't be playing, he's torn us apart on a few occasions. Who's going to partner Modders in midfield tonight?

Sunderland, WBA, Swansea. Wed need to improve on those performances tonight and we need to improve on the finishing vs Norwich(as well as we played we missed a fair few simple chances). If we want to win the league we need to be far more clinical imo.

Tonight and Wolves at the weekend are two games to get ourselves back into the swing of it and push on into the big games coming up and the end of the season.

If Bale's triple-teamed that means there's space elsewhere for us to utilise. We need to be smart in possession.

As it happens, Bale probably won't be stuck totally on the left hand side anyway, and will drift inside and tear them a new one from all sorts of angles! Hopefully.

If ever a game was the most two over-used words in recent times, and by that I mean "must win", then this is it! We've been going on about our game in hand for 19 games now! So this is it.

We need to be brave. Go at 'em with attacking force. Play to our strengths. Hope Parker's fit. And get the killer punches in and get the job done.

COYS!

Yeah, that was an absolute shocker. Remember watching it as a kid convinced we were going to win and in all likelihood qualify for Europe (Man U would have qualified through the league). Then we got slammed on the break and I remember taking the video out of the VCR that was recording the game and smashing it up! So gutted.
