And along come the arsenal fans.....the gift that keeps on giving.
At least none of us sounded like these guys....
At least none of us sounded like these guys....
Which is true
In summary, what did Collymore say?Stan's making some good points tbf. I'm more pro-Levy than anti-Levy but he has some huge flaws. In fact, after the Summer window last year, I became anti-Levy and actively wanted Cain Hoy to buy us. I've mellowed a bit since but if the same shit happens again this window then I don't know how I will feel. After seeing the new stadium plans, I said I would find it difficult to be anti-Levy again.
The usual valid arguments, very good with the financial side, not the footballing side. He said we should do what teams like Ajax do and have a Director of Football that has a connection to the club and knows the game inside out (e.g. Klinsmann, Mabbutt)- and transfers should be left to them as long as the money is there. Said it's ridiculous how we leave business so late, and found it baffling that we could be willing to spend £25m on the unproven Berahino, yet refused to spend the same money on Schneiderlin last summer (very good point). Said we could punch above our weight like Southampton do, and then get into the Top 4 if we spend more money and didn't leave things so late. Bemoaned the 2013 window as ridiculous as we could have spent the money on 3-4 top players instead of 7 (kind of easier to say in hindsight). In summary, what did Collymore say?
Is It? I think even before we signed 7 players a lot of people were saying the same and especially considering we signed 5 midfielders and never intended on playing all of them at the same time. The usual valid arguments, very good with the financial side, not the footballing side. He was incredibly passionate about it given that he's not a Spurs fan. Seems to think that English football is much worse off if teams like Newcaslte, Sunderland, Spurs etc. perform badly as it could lead to a La Liga situation where 2 teams compete for the title every season, and that would ruin English football).
Probably forgot some stuff but that was the gist of it, and they are all good points. As usual, the Spurs fans on the show were embarrassing at times.
Cheers bro, I disagree about them all being good points though, as they are missing large parts on info. The "Director of Football" that has a connection to the club is none sense though and we have already tried that with Pleat (who still consults). Ajax is a poor example of the point he is trying to too as they are one of big 3 clubs in the Netherlands (if not the biggest), not a team trying to break into that group. Better examples would have been Twente or Sevilla, neither of whom have managed to consistently (our league finishes have been better and more consistent than either recently). The usual valid arguments, very good with the financial side, not the footballing side. IM STAN COLLYMORE AND IM GOING TO SHOUT OVER EVERYONE. I AM A FOOTBALL HISTORIAN.

Yeap embarrassing, surprised Levy hasn't replaced them with "The Game is about Profit" signsBu...But we have all those signs around the stadium
"The Game is about Glory"
Selco, Selco? It's where the trade goShouting or talking over people is starting to really get on my tits where TS is concerned.
Brazil, great though he is, is always doing it to guests.
He'll ask a question, they get halfway through their answer when he starts talking over them. The betting guys are lucky if they can get a fkin word in.
Murray is just one big shouting match, I can't listen to him.
And Durham has people waiting to get through, they finally get through, get about 6 words out and if it's not the same opinion as him he cuts them up and repeats the same shit he's been spewing for the last hour.
And is it me or has it turned into Talk Adverts these days?
Very rare I tune in and dont get adverts straight away. Seems about10 min adverts for every 5min talking.
Going downhill imo.
Rant over.
Selco, Selco? It's where the trade go
So what was the summary of this hour on Spurs?
I didn't think I got through..."Well Geoff I'm not happy with Spurs. I don't know why we sold Ginola and I reckon all of our players should be called Danny Blanchflower. I haven't moved forwards in 60 years and I don't really know why we don't play 4-4-2 all the time. Harry Redknapp is a god and we didn't give Johnnie Jackson nearly enough of a chance. I want us to spend more money and also reduce ticket prices and I want a sugar daddy but don't want to be like Chelsea. We shouldn't spend too much on players but should get all of them as soon as possible. I hate Levy because we got 4th once and now we don't do it all the time. Training grounds and stadiums don't mean anything. We should win every game otherwise I'll boo every player. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh"
Etc.
Spot on.
