If we keep fucking about in the final third we're not winning as many of what's left as some think.

Someone on coys matched up the remaining games from the results of last season and it had us third. I think that's where we might finish. April is a hard month.
What I like about April is Verts and Clint being back. A calm, reassured Verts and pace and sparks from Clint.

The problem is where is our pressing game? It's been getting harder and harder to spot.
here's our pressing game.

Erik-Lamela_3047709.jpg

well about 80% of it atm.
I think a massive difference in our pressing game ATM is it's more individual than as a team and certainly more sporadic.

Don't know what the stats say about Kane's running in recent matches but his pressing seems to have taken a dive. Alli's sharpness seems to have gone in that respect too.

When Alli, Lamela and Kane are all throwing themselves around hunting everything that's when we look at our best. and it encourages those behind them to join the hunt.

Well...8 games left and my predictions for the first two of our last ten games were correct.

Looking at the next four games, we have:

Bournemouth (h)
Liverpool (a)
United (h)
Stoke (a)

I've predicted seven points from that lot (which I think would be a good return), but we're certainly capable of nine or more. Every game is going to be massive now, so we need to be clinical against Bournemouth (who are playing very well at the moment). Win that and I think we can breath a bit in terms of the CL.

Not expecting anything from the Liverpool game, so any points at Anfield will be a bonus in my opinion.

United is always a very tough game, and it's been years since we beat them at the Lane in the league. Given the way the two teams have played, we have to make sure we blitz them. Absolutely massive game for us.

Worried about Stoke, but I'd take a point.
Liverpool are nothing special. I think we can take 3 points at anfield.

Funny how the tables have turned! Me praising Pochettino's team and predicting great things, and you erring on the side of caution :D

We have a lot of players that are due a goal (Eriksen, Alli, Lamela, Chadli, Dembele, Son) and I can't see them going the rest of the season without scoring at least one. Kane is back in form too and our defence is looking strong again, so scoring goals is not something I'm worried about.

Of course now that I've said that, let the goal drought commence!

I wonder if Verts comes straight back in? No cup games to warm up in. Wimmer done a good job, although would feel safer with Vert. But will he be match ready. Tough one!

The thing is, IF (and it is a big if) we play as we have at spells during the season we can win all our remaining fixtures (as improbable as that may be)

Is going to Anfield/Chelsea any harder than going to City?

We just have to try and win each game and see where that takes us, no point now in thinking about getting Fourth, leave that thinking to Arsenal.

I am sure there will come a time when Leicester start thinking about the prize and their bung holes start a twitching...:nailbiting::nailbiting: We just have to be as close as we can if/when that moment arrives.

It's a good point and one I was thinking about during the game.

Wimmer has done a great job so far. Not at the level of Vertonghen, but harsh to just drop him as soon as Jan is fit again. Wimmer is looking like a fantastic bit of business.

Not a bad problem to have! Imagine wimmer gets even better the nearer Verts get to fitness! Now just have to find a right footed wimmer in the summer!

Defending wise there hasn't been much between them. However when it comes to getting on the ball Verts has so much more confidence, it really helps out his team-mates.

I think key is getting ahead of Leicester at some stage. I think while they are out with quite a lead the pressure is off a bit. If hey have to chase it would be a lot harder

Wimmer better at defending.....verts better at playmaking and starting attacks.

Tricky one there

That's what's so annoying about that Norwich game, the pressure was really ramping up in the stands and on the pitch.
But they pulled that one out of their arse in the last minutes for an immense release.

That pressure would be a microcosm of what could be expected if they drop points in a couple of games in a row from this point on...

I think some key players coming to the fore and dominating games and taking the bull by the horns is well overdue.

If they turned it on properly and we sorted out our pfaffing about in the final third we'd win the league this season.

Simply will not happen though.

There are too many things that need to be finely tuned in our final 3rd play and it'd be very difficult fixing them in the heat of this run-in (which is obviously getting to the players who found it hard to even play football today tbf).

Lots of pressure on a very young team in a position they've never been in before.

Bit too much to expect from them in the circumstances, really, imo.

Would still like to see Eriksen, Lamela, Son really going to town now and bringing that extra quality they are capable of. Lamela has been very good but still want more from him . He's got it in his locker. Eriksen I just can't figure out and Son hasn't brought the good stuff since his injury and needs to get back to being a real direct threat to goal.

I'm not going league, in my head, because I know it ain' 'appening, mate. Once/if we're safe for CL I may well join in the madness just for the craic, though.(y)

My guess is we'll see him against United.

We have a real chance. Enjoy it. Youth is well known for cock-sure confidence, so I'm not worried about that (and we were playing with a swagger for much of the game today).

I'll be over the moon with a top 4 spot, but we're 100% in the title race and will be favourites against every team we have left to play. Can we cope with the expectation? Who knows, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Sorry mate, I'm fully focused on CL. I just don't believe/can't see us doing it the way we've played recently. Again, if our final third play was crisper and our decision making was better I might be more inclined to climb on board at this stage. But there is no way in hell I'm getting on the bus when we're wasting so many good opportunities. You can't win titles that way.

Gotta go with what I'm seeing and project that onto the remaining fixtures.

If we turn up next 2/3 games and play smart, slick and sharp (relatively...I accept our energy levels are a bit muted), then my cock might begin to twitch a little...just.

I'm protecting myself from doing any serious damage to my health, apart from that.

Y'all go ahead though, ya hear. :D
