To Zurich - to see whether, as feared, Blatter's Fifa legacy is an institution capable of electing a successor who's even worse than him

Unfortunately until a complete outsider is appointed to get rid of the institutional corruption, and completely amateur attitude to running a billion dollar/pound organisation, I fear the tweet will be true.

Wonder if we can get a 'Nurenburg' type trial going to put all current and previous top FIFA execs on trial and replace with outsiders the top say 3 layers of management with a directive to sack anyone previously involved with corruption.

Needs root and branch change.

Fundamentally the funny thing is we only need/want a smaller FIFA to organise the world cup locations (the rules of the game are dealt with by a separate body) - everything else doesn't need FIFA !

It's top-to-bottom corruption. Every inch of it is rotten.

I think there probably have been, and perhaps even still are, people there who do want to reform the organization for the better, but they're hopelessly outnumbered by those wanting to do nothing but line their own pockets. Look at how Jerome Champagne got forced out and is now totally sidelined for wanting to actually make positive changes, that's the MO of FIFA's general assembly.

I think it's going to lead to a breakaway at some point soon, maybe even before the 2018 WC.

Anyone put any bets on today's vote? Someone out there has to know the result already!

Its quite amazing that the next president is someone who had his own nations players arrested and tortured. It is 100% believeable though as this is FIFA. Money wins everything. Change? Hahahahahaha. Yeah maybe change to where human rights is perfectly fine.

I still say we should just walk away from FIFA, literally take our ball and go home. You don't actually need a "governing body" to go play football. Load of institutionalised bollocks.

Most Prince Alli voters are probably much more likely to go to the Sheikh than Infantinno voters. So Im thinking the human rights violater has this locked up unless Infantinno drops out and gives his votes to Alli.

Unfortunately, either way we're fucked. We're just fucked worse now than with Blatter since the Sheikh will win

I'd agree with you but the world cup is way too much of an allure for me. It's the most prestigious trophy in international football.

UEFA should walk with South America. Those 2 confederations walk and FIFA is dead in the water.

Then renegotiate the voting rights to recognise importance so that Germany's vote is not the same as Turks and Caicos islands.

Currently UEFA get 45 votes, South America get 10 votes and the Caribbean islands 27 votes. Fair play to Blatter for recognising the cheap votes to buy.

Frankly UEFA could walk and the World Cup is a nothing event. All corporate sponsorship would collapse and FIFA would crumble with it. Make the Euros a biannual event with a few guest nations i.e. Brazil and Argentina and maybe Mexico.

Decapitation strategy 101

We can just start our own. I'm sure with England's football history and US's broad marketing appeal we can knock something together over a few drinks... have a tournament ready for 2017 no prob.
