Everyone was wondering would Burkenshaw play Ricky in the replay after the shite game he had in the first one, thankfully Keith knew what he was doing.
An interesting fact (well, I think it is) is that Ricky Villa wore the no 5 shirt for the whole season and Steve Perryman the no 6. On the Saturday they swopped shirt numbers. I remember as a 13 year old thinking "why have they done that?".
I'm not sure that it was coincidence that they changed back for the replay.

The Villa goal was voted the best Wembley goal of the 20th century.

I was in the upper tier behind the goal and all I could think of at the time was 'shoot' 'shoot' loads of time before he actually hit it.

It may well have been 'shoot ya bastard' or something similar LOL

I thought the goal was scored down the city 'tunnel' end, but I'm happy to be corrected - it was so long ago, and so far away.

The lower tier was spurs and we were coined all game. I have £1.12 of new money in a box somewhere - is some of that yours?

I was traveling around Australia that year.. Was in Tasmania had no TV so we went and rented one from Retra Vision. Think that's what they were called...

Only wanted the tele for the Saturday night...

Had to bargain hard to get it as you couldn't rent for one night. Had to be a week/mth or yearly..So we finally talked them into renting for the night only, but at just less than a weeks rate..

Make sure the tele is back tomorrow...

Excellent we thought..Beers and crisps ready for the big night..

Was a cracking game then the realisiation hit us. Come extra time if there is no result we are going to have to go back to Retra Vision and go through the whole process again..

As we all know there was no result that night so with sad eyes we trudged back to the shop hoping we could pay the little extra to keep the tele for the week..

As you guessed the rest is history.. We rented it for a week this time..

Great times

The amazing thing was after Ricky's substitution from the first game, Perryman didn't want him picked for the replay but Burkinshaw insisted.

Just imagine, what if?

I was lower tier to the right of the back of the goal as we were looking when Crooks and Villa scored second half. Don't remember getting coined, at least where we were. City had some of the upper tier, think it was central or even further to the left. Had plenty of Spurs mates in the upper tier at that end. Our support was incredible that night. The feeling and roar when Crooks got the equalizer was something else. My favourite Spurs game memory.

Was in the North bank that night. Then we all steamed onto the pitch and dug it up for souvenirs.

Great memories....i was in the north bank couldn't see a thing i was just a kid, but i got onto the pitch at the end and fucked up a new pair of shoes digging up the scum pitch.

Being in the north bank wasn't strange as thats where we used to watch the NLD from back then.

The atmosphere that night was electric, one of the best i can recall.

We're the North Bank, we're the North Bank, we're the North bank Tottenham! That was always a fun chant over there.

Went to the first game and had a ticket for the replay but had to return to Leeds for University. When we were 1-0 down I went out and emptied the cash my pockets into a charity collectors box and made a wish! Ended up giving away my replay ticket to my dad....seated right up near royal box! Watched the replay in uni house next to my best mate who was a Citeh fan. My girlfriend was convinced we were going to kill each other as the game swung this way and that. Still believe that winning the replay at Highbury was one of my greatest Spurs memories mainly because we had not been there since 73'. Stood to the left of Clock end with Spurs...great night

I'd just turned eight. At that point it was the purest ecstacy that I had ever experienced. I will never, ever forget it.

I was in the 5th year at school (year11 to you youngsters!) playing cricket in games, my uncle and his mates pulled up to pick me up, teacher said I couldn't leave, I just laughed and shouted "try catching me!"
We were in the corner at the end Ricky scored, scenes of pandemonium as he rolled the ball in!
Great memories, just hope we start creating new ones for the current younger fans.

i was 13 at the time, unforgettable at Highbury, didnt sleep a wink before the first final, the 100th, then that replay, best celebrations ever and unforgettable memories with the old man who's now gone. My son needs a trophy, as enjoyable as CL qualification is

Newer memories ?

It's 36 years ago today since we beat QPR in the 1982 FA Cup Replay.

Final Replay was on my 10th Birthday. I bet my grandfather that we would still win when we were 2-1 down. Remember bouncing round the house when Villa scored kitted out in my birthday present. Still a classic shirt!

81 replay is still my finest night as a spurs fan. The whole queueing up all night at Tottenham to get a replay ticket singing all night I was still hoarse for the replay on the Thursday- well chuffed walking out of the ground with my ticket with people just joining the queue! The night itself was just magical, and yeah the semi final replay at highbury was fantastic as well and probably beats the UEFA cup final in 84 to second best night. The early 80's were great times to be a spurs fan.

A goal that couldn't happen now, because there are no replays.

I was there for both games & the vision of Villa walking despondently down the track after being substituted & then the one after he scored that goal will remain with me forever. As JG said "it's a funny old game".

I remember thinking I was going to die at the semi at Hillsborough until the old bill opened the doors in the fences at Leppings Lane; sitting on the side of the pitch. Then - for the first time - thinking that it wasn't going to be our year when that fucker Clive Thomas robbed us of a win.....

Then thinking they were joking when I was told that the replay was at Highbury and just knowing that we couldn't lose there; that Hilsborough was an aberration and that of course it was going to be our year....

Standing on the North Bank and watching as that Hoddle pass shredded the Wolves defence and Crooks sprinted past his marker and lashed it in, then Ricky's thunderbolt. Being there with about 47,000 other yids in a 50,000 crowd ("We feel at home in here......") .......

Being so let down at Wembley when we drew the first game but believing that we couldn't let it slip again.....

Queuing all night at the Lane with my brother, thinking all the time that we'd got there too late and wouldn't get a ticket.....then getting one.......

Then the replay. What a roller-coaster of emotion. Ricky scoring, MacKenzie scoring that 'worldie' volley for them and us being 2-1 down for what seemed like forever. Then the equalizer and the place went nuts.....and being right in line when Ricky slalomed his way through the defence to win it. I thought I was going to die again, this time from happiness.

Magic. Just fucking magic.
