The chap that missed the final penalty for Anderlecht was named Arnor Gudjohnson.
And Arnor Gudjohnson is the father of Eidur Gudjohnson.

I only just discovered this.

Is it widely known?

Fate.

If the referee in the semi finals hadn't taken a bung we would have been playing Nottingham Forest instead.

Yeah - it took a few years to be proved.

Forest were a very good team back then.

I wasn't even 3 when we played that final so it's all news to me.

Any other little known facts?

i was 13 and at the game and behind the goal
other facts from memory
Wasnt all ticket, queued to get in, pay on gate
great foul from falco for the goal
Ardiles missed an open goal from less than 6 yards
Scifo was brilliant for them
Think Frank Arnsen played for them as well
Parks hardly played for us again
Crowd were still singing one danny thomas right up until parks saved it

He did indeed.
I didn't even know he was a player tbh.

114 goals in 345 games from midfield is pretty decent.

yes I bloody started a new job that week and couldn't go. was lucky someone swapped shifts with me, and when we scored the equaliser I was close to breaking my bloody hand which would of meant losing that job. luckily we worked as a team and I got away with the damage for a week and a bit.

wasn't a good year for having accidents, nearly killed myself the night we beat Bayern.

that's a fact(y)

All those big matches were first come first served.

Fortunately I never got turned away for any game. I never ever got a cup final ticket via the infamous ballot system though.

The stadium for the first leg was an utter shit hole of a place.

I was 13 and tearing it up as a RW, In rugby I was a hooker o_O and cricket for youth and mens teams all summer I was a wicket keeper.

Never got to see Spurs all that much back then, but weirdly can still remember Mitchell Thomas from our '87 cup final loss to Coventry.

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Back when the competition meant something and had some really strong competition. Pity that uefa put all their eggs in one basket with the CL although commercially it's totally understandable.

My yellow Camden yids flag on the fence left side of the goal @ 28:17 in the vid...

The old bill continuously ripping down our flags in the away leg and when we tried putting them up again got struck though the fence with their truncheons...que lots of shenanigans aimed back at them..

Arriving at the ground an hour before KO, to be meet with coppers on horse back charging into our fans.....missiles and bottles thrown in return!!....mayhem getting through the turnstiles..

Spurs fan got shot in a bar the night before..R.I.P Flanagan

Maxie Miller scored the best goal of his career.

I didn't get to Rotterdam for the 1974 final. All my mates went, I was arrested a few weeks earlier at Stamford Bridge (near Fulham Broadway underground) after the Chelsea match.

I was up in court the day of the 1st leg so if couldn't travel.

It was a trumped up arrest like what happened to many others back in those days. I jumped out of the way of a police horse rampaging down the road and unknown to me it was a queue for the tube, two cops grabbed me and I was charged with breach of the peace and threatening behaviour. My Dad's barrister humiliated the two plods in the West London Magistrates Court.

No I’m talking about 1 of the earlier rounds in 84, we beat them 4-2 at home, the great Cruyff played, we then beat them 2-0 over there.

The 74 game my old man wouldn’t let me go to the home leg, at the age of 10, though the season after let me go to the Leeds game we needed to win to stay up lol

Ah, I thought you might have meant that one.

My pals say that 1974 trouble was one of the worst they ever saw. The said a cop was thrown over the back of the stand and it was a massive drop and he wasn't moving afterwards.
