2-1 Again, But Still Hanging On...

Our victories v NuArse have always been by a goal. They've not ever been comfortable, even when we've clearly been the superior side. Contrast that to many recent defeats v them of the 5-2 and 3-0 variety. The last one could have been 9-2.

It is frustrating that again we've not converted our chances to really kill the game - Sig's does stand out as an obvious one. It always seems to be on the edge with Spurs - after those 2 goals I again started fantasising about a 5 nil level of win.

What stands out is trying to achieve major success on the cheap.

How many years have Arsenal been better than us? just be glad we're starting to beat them on a regular basis now, another 5-1 will come soon enough.

Absolutely no problems with our style of victory today. It was an exceptionally professional performance. Bale missed an open net from 4 yards, Siggy had a one on one chance that he fluffed, could easily have beaten them 4-1 and even then their goal was a fluke deflection. We knew very early on in the game that their midfield was good and packed and that Dembele and Parker wouldn't be able to dominate them, so we didn't try. Harrased their play, pressed hard in our half and tried to slice them up on the break. Holding on at the end wasn't really a panicky mess like the United away win, it was professional. I'd like us to keep the ball all game and spank them but they have some very very good ball players. I started a whole thread on this a while back, about how we didn't have a big team mentality and that was the real reason we were chucking leads. Well, I think we're starting to finally get it. To quote a poster from a city forum "They're starting to remind me of the fucking rags". Haha I'm ok with that, United have the best mentality in world football.

I don't care how they come, as long as they come. If we beat them 10-0 I still wouldn't be able to cheer more loudly than if we win 1-0.

It would be nice to relax a little during a nld though.

3 points for a win whatever the score.
As The Rolling Stones used to sing (and probably still do)
You don't always get what you want
but if you try sometimes you might just get what you need.
Amen to that Mick.

I thought the crowd played a part in it, we were singing at 1-0 up as soon as it went 2-0 we got nervous and the second half for the first 15mins that conveyed on to the players as they were sitting deep, then it went 2-1 we started to slowly sing abit more and then dominated until the stoppage time

We havent been playing well in the last couple of week with moments of brilliance saving us(which imo is done to our 2CM's one playing with a injury and other not just the player we need). Actually introducing Livermore, Holtby or Carroll may actually do us alot of good. I think next season once AVB develops his play we can be really good possible dare I say it ***** challenge like last season

They haven't won at WHL since 2007 now. We've won at the Emirates for the first time in that time, I would say we are very much going in the right direction. They are a flat track bully though, when they get on top they all start playing, hence their good GD this year. No bottle though.

Or trying to achieve success with all the resources you have as a club?

I would love to go out and buy a Ferrari, a villa in spain, a private yaucht and a brass who will suck my cock till my ears bleed. But I don't have the money!

Lads, their fans are unhappy because they don't challenge for trophies. The Mancs and Chelsea have left them behind.

The final straw is that Spurs look like they might finish above them! Narrowly.

I'm saying we should be doing more than that, stuffing it to them! At least once at home. Don't leave us hanging on.

Yeah it would be nice to win by a margin, thought that was a fair point. What do you mean by trying to achieve major success on the cheap? Is that a dig at the board, or a compliment?

What upsets me, nay disgusts me, is that we don't win every game by at least 8 goals.

I mean we did it once against Wigan (although we did concede in that game which was completely unacceptable) so why can't we do it in every game?

AVB out!

Levy out!
