Don't want to detract too much from the fact we've won 2/2 and conceded 0, but I feel we're lacking vision and creativity.

Modders used to supply from the middle and Bale from.. well, anywhere. But now, we have two average wingers. I think Chadli is technically VERY good, but lacks the pace required to breeze past a fullback and bothTownsend and Azza are hardly going to set the world alight.

And in the middle we lack vision for a pass. Our play seems predictable through the middle and I saw minimal defense splitting passes or even semi-decent through balls.

On the plus side our defense looks formidable defensively and Jan is an absolute beast!

Next victim.

COYS!

Swansea are no mugs though and at 0-0 they were happy to sit back deep, deny space and defend hard - so any team would have struggled to get behind them and create chances

Its true that we do need someone with that bit of creative class to make the most of Soldado's movement but the way Swansea were set up and there effort levels would have made it hard even if we had VdV and Modric in there today

The bottom line is we out classed a very good Swansea team who were fighting as hard as ever. We dominated the midfield and if it wasn't for a string of top saves we'd have won by a big margin today

I agree with the general sentiment of what you're saying though - it is slightly worrying the lack of clear chances we've presented to Soldado in the league matches so far and the fact that we've not scored from open play.

We clearly had designs on rectifying this by signing Lamela and Willian and while the latter has gone elsewhere I am sure we'll have another option to replace what he would have offered and still be in for Lamela (or someone similar) so come the end of teh window this problem should be addressed and the good news is unlike last year (and the year before) we've not lost points early doors due to slow transfer dealings

Did you even watch the game? Michael Dawson is clearly going to be our main source of creativity this season, judging by the number of diagonals in the Palace game, and his beautifully threaded pass with his left against Swansea. He's done it before, launching the ball up for Peter Crouch to get beaten in the air.

But seriously, the reason why it looks like we have no creativity is because our midfielders don't make the runs. Instead of looking for the one-two, they play it to feet. This is because they've only been playing together for a few weeks. You can see the beginnings of them gelling - Paulinho had tons of little turns and flicks and quick passing feet today, and anticipated where his team-mates would be.

Of course it would be nice if someone at any point in a game, even just once, thinks, 'hey, maybe Soldado's making a run - I should slide him through!'

When If we sign Lamela and Eriksen and all those other goodies, then we'll probably see more flashy stuff than with our beasts tearing players limbs off legally, and Gylfi loosing the ball.

Yeah I agree Swansea are no pushovers and tbh it's probably to early to draw any real conclusions. Having said that, without a creative cm or 1 or 2 special wingers, I don't think this formation with a lone striker will work too well (top 4 standard).

Hopefully we'll sign some creativity though...

Fucking Chavs hijacking will I an is pure filth tactics.

yeah I think we need more of a passer in the middle hopefully a fit Holtby or Eriksen can provide it for us

I think we might need someone to play in a few more through balls for the wingers, attacking midfielders and strikers to run onto.

Maybe when Holtby is back he can do that or get one of the 10 creative players we have been looking at.

True, however besides adding a creative players, some geling will help on that front. We are fielding a team with loads of new players, it's natural that it affects game on final third.

Thought Chadli and Townsend both had really good games

Think we're all agreed we need a bit more creativity, and the club is clearly looking to address that. We're currently without our most creative player and have yet to replace him, so think this is understandable

The fact we're doing most other things right, improving every game, using various players in the squad to bed everyone in, not letting the ridiculous circus that's currently engulfing our club affect us and picking up clean-sheet wins each time is pretty bloody good

Agree that we need a creative player, but also think that we need to remember that, Dembele apart, we started today's game with a new midfield and striker who all need to learn each others game.

Today we fielded Soldado, Chadli, Townsend, Paulinho and Capoue - all new players at Spurs (at least playing from start in the EPL, in Townsends case). The team needs time to gel and I'm confident we'll see a better understanding between forwards and midfielders as the season progresses.

Two wins from a gelling team is nothing to be sniffed at. Winning breads confidence, confidence breads flair. Not to mention that we destroyed Tbilsi 5-0 with the same gelling team.

We will get a creative player, but we look infinitely more creative than last year anyway. Although Crystal Palace was not exactly brilliant.

That European win, has done us a big big favour with confidence and the team will gel quicker.

I agree...although I love the solid core we have going through the team now! Were really not far off from having a great 18 man match day squad with youngsters filling in other gaps. Lamela and other option would be an astonishing window and will put the one man team tag to bed.

Bale must surely be looking at things and be wondering what a great season he could have with Spurs...poor chap listening to all those nasty agents and RM arse licking scallywags

Wait until holtby comes back and plays in midfield and its early days we still need to gel

Right now we´re getting results. When the team is still gelling it is important for confidence and togetherness.

Holtby returning will help as we clearly need a passer. Soldado is making the runs which is encouraging.

I think it´ll come, we need to improve as a unit.

Only got to see about 30 mins of the game.

The stats are showing we had 21 shots!!! only 7 on target. As I said I didn't see all the game, but were many of these good chances, or all just long hopeful shots?
