20 goal striker, wing cover then a tilt at the title?

TBH I think if we had such a striker we'd have been challenging this season.

Agreed 100%. If you look at the tables, particularly the goals for and against columns you'll see that we have conceeded more goals than the rest of the top 5, but only 3 at the most, excepting Shitty. The biggest difference is the goals for column. Utd have scored 19 more, City 2 more (but they've conceeded 9 less, Chelski 7 more conceeded 3 less and Le Arse 4 more conceeded 1 less.

Of our league losses we have lost only 3 games by more than 1 goal. It follows that a more clinical striker would have got us quite a few more points and possible have us challenging. I accept that Defoe was in very good form before Christmas, but as discussed elsewhere in these threads he has a worse conversion rate from chances to goals that the other top strikers, and let's not go into Ade's form eh!

For me the Cruical deal in the summer will be a really top class, clinical, striker and I believe we will challenge.

We don't need a world class (subjective) striker, we just need someone that will complement the other ten players.

Someone with the right attributes, someone that is a good finisher (composure), someone that makes basic (no joke) movements off the ball, someone that won't take years to recognise the kind of crosses that the wide players tend to use. Someone that isn't afraid to shoot, someone that recognises that by not standing still in the box will result in better chances for him to score (tap in). Someone that plays with his head up and is aware of those around him, someone that doesn't bitch and moan when he isn't passed the ball when two minutes earlier three of his teammates sprinted 80 yards for nothing all because of his selfish attitude.

You actually describe Defoe (this season at least) until you slag him off at the end.

Being selfish has got Defoe a lot of goals. It's part of the way he plays. Sure, it's not perfect, but how many times will Lennon or Sig try passing rather than shooting and we lose the opportunity? Swings and roundabouts.

As far as the striker goes, AVB must be looking at someone pacey.

To keep up with our counter attacks, it's essential and hopefully this someone will have good creativity who can bring our elite midfield into play

Jackson Martinez would be good but doubt it would happen. Also it's a real shame Lukaku is owned by Chelsea.

I described Defoe, Adebayor and Dempsey.

If we could get moutinho and lewandowski we could challenge for the title. Lewandowski only has 18 months left on contract so could get the for between 15 & 20m each

I still think adebayor will be a good option next season. He clearly has injury problems this season and is probably paying the price for missing pre season.

A top quality striker would certainly give teams something else to think about but besides wing cover we still need more depth to the squad. Dembele isn't the finished article yet, if he improves in the final third then I think we will have a world class player on our hands. I think we need another creative central midfielder, someone who can help us unlock teams that park the bus and provide competition for Dembele and give us options.

We need consistency and and the winning mentality, I think AVB can give us that.

Falque is playing Spanish Second Division and Townsend wasn't even picked for QPR's last game. Neither are of Champions League quality, neither would help to take us forward.

Townsend needs a striker who can head the ball as he doesn't pick people out but hurriedly cross the ball. If Defoe was up front it would be pointless playing him.
Lol I have seen both players play in the last month and yes I know where they play. Townsend just won QPR's player of the month and harry chose to change the team for the one match and even qpr fans cant wait for him to come back and provide genuine width tbh with toilet who had his first good game in 9 months

As for Falque he is doing very well and whether he will be with us IDK but as said he is a good player and will be a player for at least a top 10 team in a top division

We are not getting Lewandowski. The only "step up" from Dortmund in Europe is Bayern, Utd, Barca, Real. The guy is 24 and he's already destroying the (depending on who you speak to) 1st/2nd/3rd best league in the world.

It would be similar to Bale going to Atletico Madrid, or Falcao to us. Possible obviously, but come on.

My Dream Offseason:

1. Edin Dzeko - 17m
2. Mauro Icardi - 9m
3. Jordy Clasie - 6.5m
4. Andre Carrillo/Antoine Griezmann - 10m

Let's keep Bale, buy Aubameyang and we will probably win the PL and the CL.

I don't think we will really be able to challenge for the title until we have the regular guaranteed increased income that a new stadium will generate. I think that's where Levy's head is, and quite right too, as I'm sure we all want Spurs success to be built on strong foundations.

However, regular CL place finishes is a great start, and will help attract talent that for whatever reason can't always go to the other challengers.

I do have a new dream though, a little fire that started to burn this morning:

We win the Champion's League before Arsenal. And shut them up forever...

COYS!

Aubameyang would be a great fit for this side to create a fluid front with our holdovers. He plays across 4 positions for St. Etienne and he's damn good at all of them.

And becoming a consistent CL side with a face of the club like Gareth Bale means sponsors lining up to the point where we can pick and choose.

Yeah, he's quick so no problem with Bale and Lennon, very good finisher and playmaker. Even good headers. I'd love for us to buy him.

And the songs we could sing with his name in - I mean they just suggest themselves!
