I jremember feeling we would walk the game, learned a lot about making assumptions about Spurs that night which have served me well since. We bottled it totally, they just blew through us. Daniel Amokachi's best ever performance, surely?

I was so gutted

I liked the late 90s, yeah overall we were shite but we had David Ginola and we won a trophy in '99. A lot is nostalgia but Ginola will always be my favourite ever Spurs player, a true gift to watch at a time when we really didn't have much to cheer.

I preferred the late 90s to the early 2000s, felt like we were in no mans land until this journey began with Martin Jol being given the managers job.

That's understandable - that was a horrible way to lose a match. Ironic that we won the 1991 cup final on another own goal. Am I right in remembering that Mabbs was following in behind Walker anyway? He might well have made amends, although in most Spurs supporters minds, that great man more than made up for that unfortunate OG in his subsequent games for the club.

That OG was a complete freak but for it to happen to Gary was heartbreaking. I completely broke down in tears. Easily my worst moment as a Spurs fan but as you said to win it in 91 was truly truly amazing. I just never expected to be sitting here today 27 years on and not won it again ?

Awful awful game. We never got going - I always remember everyone was talking up a United - Spurs final as being the dream final and Joe Royle saying that wasn't his dream final, that was a nightmare final. His tactics worked a treat and in the final too with Duncan Disorderly scoring the winner against United.

Rideout scored Everton's winner in 95

I remember writing to Gerry Fancis to congratulate him when he was appointed. I got a nice letter back as well (I know I was his secretary that wrote it ).

I think I even suggested a few player she should sign including Roy Keane and even bloody David Bardsley :X3:

How niaive was I?!?

Good times!

I remember the game but have no recollection of Danny Hill?

The 90s and early 00s were littered with forgettable players who somehow got onto the pitch. Gerry McMahon, Andy Booth, Rory Allen, Steve Slade, hell even Alan Pardew played a few games for us.

I say it every season, it disgusts me we haven’t won it since then. It’s embarassing.

How simpler were these times

Blokes standing round the TVs in curry’s on a Saturday afternoon until some wombat come and turned teletext off them

Spurs being shit

West Ham being shitter.... some things never change

Me too. I was only about 10. And to this day I don't know where my parents used to get the gk tops from....did they sell them in standard sports shops back then? They weren't from the club shop. But every year I'd be presented with a new spurs gk top. Even though I never played in goal.

perhaps they where trying to tell you in a gentle way that GK might of been a better position for you:whistle:

?? Your absolutely right. The 90s where so bad that I actually wanted us to be relegated, just so that the Club could be woken up. It was horrible in the 90's but I don't need to tell you this buddy. You were hip deep in it with me back then ?

your lucky you missed out on the mid to late 70's when we was relegated. I actually told my mate as a 13yr old that going down would be the best thing and would wake us up, but we was in the bottom end all season that year

That Everton game was horrible just horrible buddy and to make it worse I had to watch it in a bloody hospital bed. By far one of the most gut-wrenching Spurs games I've had to sit through. The worst was by far and away Coventry City in the 87 final. I was 13yo and was in tears once poor Gary Mabbutt deflection looped up and over a helpless Ray Clemence. That is by far the worst experience I've ever had as a Tottenham fan. That was also the last time I cried over a Spurs result. Mainly because for me that is the lowest point in my Tottenham supporting experience ?

due to work and other things the 87 Final was the 1st game I attended since just before the UEFA Cup final in 84 (missed it due to a new job) but got the night off and watched it on 1 of the campsite TV's. I have very little memories of the 90's except for games on TV, and 3 games I went to in the whole of the 90's due to work, getting Wed, getting divorced, getting re-wed and taking up my 2nd love Golf again (had to use a buggy). the 4 games I went to was early 90's we lost 1-3 to Southampton, some young kid called Shearer scored a beauty, met all the players that day, and Liniker made a special appearance to see my step son who was blind and got given some tickets from someone seeing a paper article about him.

the next was Linikers return at Sellhurst Park think we won 3-1, someone I cabbed when Spurs where at home asked me to take them there with tickets thrown in. the only other 2 games was late on in the 90's can't remember what way round but we beat Everton 3-2, think they had 2 pens, and the best was the 2-0 win v Leeds in the FA Cup replay, you played a blinder:ROFLMAO: and the exec box wasn't to sure how I got tickets as I was a bit louder than what they where used too

the thing is very soon after football changed and become money, and the money clubs took most of the spoils at a time when we hit rock bottom financially

We were just badly run off the pitch from managerial appointments to commercially (we were ahead of Man Utd before sugar took over) and to not expanding the stadium when we should of. Strange that Sugar was such a good businessman but such a terrible chairman. You'd think he'd of been able to transfer some of his skills.

was pretty hard picking up the pieces from Scholar financially, and glad he got the ownership rather than Robert Maxwell, but yes he turned out pretty shit

I started following Spurs in the early/mid-90s when I was 6 or 7.

The fact I never ended up a teen smackhead is a miracle, really.
