My family owned a box during the 90s/00s with quite a few of my family working for the club.

At 7 I thought we had Pony as our kit maker because we were Shit, still saved up and bought them all though, the yellow Adidas with Ginola on the back was my favourite.

The boxes back then weren’t great. Real old style wood panelling and nothing worked in them. Part of the package would mean you had access to the players bar before and after the game so got to meet all the players and legends on the weekends which was pretty cool as a 7,8,9+ year old.

Il try and dig some pictures out if I get a chance.

I was lucky enough to be able to do the same thing, the company my dad worked for had a box in the west stand and if they ever had a spare ticket he'd take me along. Highlight for me was going to 3 or 4 games in a row in the early 90s when Gazza played for us. He would go round to all of the boxes before the game to say hello, and after a few games he remembered who I was and greeted me by name! My little 7 year old self was blown away.

I remember when Gross was appointed and I was convinced it was the beginning of a new era. It didn't take long before I learnt a life lesson in being a Spurs fan and never to build up expectations.

This kit epitomises the 90s. I loved this kit though because it was the shittiest material in the entire world. Fucking bobbled more than a bobble

I supported spurs when I saw us win the 1991 cup final. I thought i hit the jackpot with Spurs, a successful team always winning. Glory hunting that backfired for me

Damn well ruined the 90s for me from a footballing view point.
It was the same for me, a youngster watching the 91 cup final. Funny how things panned out back then, well not funny at all tbh. I remember my dad taking me to the Oldham game 93-94
where we just avoided relegation.

All the digging out of late 90s spurs but at least we got to see us lift a sodding trophy!

Everton 4 Tottenham 1 in the '95 cup semi-final.

We were an absolute shower that day.

That was grim...the day Dr Tottenham met Daniel Amokachi.

That said - Everton beat Utd in the final that year so that was at least amusing.

That was the day I told my dad and uncle I didn't want to be a Spurs fan anymore because they're crap. Can't I be a Man Utd fan like all my other mates?!
Needless to say the fact I'm on a Spurs message board would suggest I did not get the response I wanted ha ha!

Looking back at some of those scores in the 90s almost makes me think Sugar was right to hire George Graham! The four consecutive 0-0 draws in the league followed by a 1-0 win against Man City in 2001 - we were watertight (and very, very, very sturgid!).

Whilst easy to blame Gross, in his defence, he did inherit some absolute shite bought by Gerry " The Mullet" Francis
Fox
Sinton
Nielsen
Dominguez
Vega
Wilson
Berti
Scales
Armstrong

Just asked Tifo Football could they do a history of Christian Gross. I can't believe it will be 21 years ago on 20th November he was appointed Manager and the Underground ticket.

View attachment 40583

How come you thought of this?!?!

His time with us is hidden in the back of my brain somewhere thankfully. Although I quite liked the man, it was such a weird appointment and showed why Sugar was probably the worst chairman in our history (after he saved us from bankruptcy of course).

I was at Uni in Portsmouth when he was manager so at least being drunk every day was some saviour, plus in my part of halls was a glory hunting Man Utd fan from Exeter who just added to the painful times......plus I was in Portsmouth!

Quite paradoxically, I became a Spurs fan after watching a feature on our plight in the first part of the 97-98 season, sacking Gerry Francis and appointing Gross, but also at the same time resigning Klinsmann. How our big buys in the summer, Ferdinand and Ginola, were yet to make the expected impact, and how our club was in complete turmoil with the fans turning on Alan Sugar.

The feature was a warm up to our home-game against Chelsea that was shown live on national danish television. We lost 1-6 that day, and I somehow got hooked, maybe out of pity. I was only 10, mind.

The late 90's and early 00's really puts our current position into context.

Yeah you kids need to visit this site when throwing your toys out of the Pram next time.

We had to live through this, I started supporting Spurs as a 7 year old in 1982, I thought my life was going to be fantastic after a very good decade.

Then the 90's happened, I've fucking well earned these good times, and believe me, they are good times.

That result out of all of them in the 90’s
Is the one that really truly hurts. The amazing thing was it was 1-1 at half time.
An absolute debacle in the second half. I was with my brother and his kids in the Paxton. And we left with 20 mins to play when it was 1-4. Got back to the car turned the radio on and heard the other two goals!. We have never left that early before.

Remember Notts County 3 Tottenham 0 in the League Cup

Bolton 6 Tottenham 1 in the same competition

Fucking hell we were absolutely shit

I know West Ham fans, who in order to try to put us down, simply say "Nots County"

I'm like "You've been relegated 27 times since then and lost to Romanian part time teams, why do you say this shit?"

Funny you should say that. I’ve been watching Spurs live regularly since the late 80’s and this match is also only one of 2 that I’ve ever left early from. It was just too humiliating.

The other one was also against Chelsea, the 5-1 semi final defeat at Wembley.

Exactly, I remember Vega equalising from a header after a corner, just before half-time.

I don't know what Gross told the team during the break, but we completely crumbled in the second half, and let a donkey like Flo get a hattrick against us.
