Quite a few old skool clubs have fallen down the last few years - the sheffield clubs, Leeds, QPR, Forest, Southampton, Coventry...they were usually always in the top division. But then Mankini's City were in the leagues below not so long ago...

I think there is a correlation between major cities and the teams you all name. Leeds and Forest have won the European Cup, they are both from major cities.

QPR, Soton, Palace, and Coventry can't touch them in size.

Interesting about Blackburn, 17 yrs? Thats pretty impressive when you think about their attendances. Newcastle too, thought they'd been out of it for longer than 2 years. Also Stoke, 3 years, they feel more established than that.

Interesting stats there.

Leeds have won the European cup? I thought their best showing was runners up.

18 Sheffield Wednesday 8 392
19 Wimbledon 8 391

I find this quite a suprise, although my top 11 match this top 11.

It's definately the lower down clubs where it gets tricky because some feel very established like dvdhopeful said.

Id have Leicester, Wednesday, Leeds and Forest in place of Wigan, Bpool, West Brom and Fulham. Its a shame how far Sheffield Wednesday have fallen over the years.

I still yearn for the old days of Nottingham Forest, QPR, Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton etc. Would have to have them in my "top 20 true premier league teams"
Proper order. Great days. Anyone else remember Naaarge beating Bayern M in the UEFA?

Forest should definitely be in the top division for me and Wednesday. Not sure about Coventry. I seem to remember, although this could be bollocks, they were a bit of a bogey team for us in the league when I was just a little lad. Every game seemed to end 2-1 to them. That's how I remember it anyway. Oh and Mabs always got us the one goal in the defeat. Quite a fantasy.

I'll shut up now.

Coventry is bigger than nottingham, southampton is not far off . . . Obviously there is some correlation but i think its the footballing culture in the city that drives it. Leeds is a huge city, 3rd biggest in the country and have only 1 major football club so theres no wonder the club is so well supported. The same could be said for Newcastle.
