I'm glad Federer won. For me personally Tennis has never been about national pride and all that stuff (have to put up with England football enough haha), so I've never felt the need to support Murray. I've warmed to him slightly (He is human after all!) but I love watching Federer, Tsonga, Nadal more, so I'll always prefer them to win.

I was probably more emotional when Serena won, after what she's been through the last year, to come back and win was just so amazing. I'm now just excited that her and Venus will be playing during the Olympics!

People criticise Andy for being introvert... I think a lot of people would become introvert after witnessing 16 people murdered in your classroom.

I mean, let's just put it out there, being an introvert is not a bad thing. I don't think people dislike Murray because he is an introvert, Nadal seems to be an introvert too, people have tended to dislike Murray because of his swearing etc on the court. Honestly I have always liked Murray because when I miss a shot (which is almost every shot I take) I cannot control the expletives that come out of my mouth - and that is not under the pressure of professional tennis - and I am also a pretty lame introvert.

Saying that, now that Murray has grown older he has seemed to overcome the urge to spew out his emotions in four letter words, and so I think he is rapidly winning over many Murray haters.

The people I don't get are the Britons who supported Federer over Murray today. As far as I am concerned they are like Utd fans that live in London, not true fans - just support the guy/team that wins a lot because that is the easiest thing to do.

Fingers crossed Murray wins the US Open, he has always done well there! And then he can roll around to next year's Wimbledon already with Major winning experience and go on to lift the trophy for Britain!

Fucking Federer - could have had an off day you selfish twat, you've won enough!

He had an off day! 21 unforced errors in the first set wasn't it? How much help does Murray need? Fed ain't what he was but he has always been and will always be on a another level to the likes of Murray.

Hopefully the myth that there is some kind of top 4 in tennis ends today. Murray is much closer to 5th than 3rd that's for sure. Top 3 are let years ahead of the rest.

Fed winning is a great story. Greatest of all time coming back and showing he still has it to a degree to regain number slot and another slam after everyone was writing him off. Brilliant stuff.

The Wimbledon crowd are embarrassing. 50% of them there today were there purely to either be seen or tell people they were there as opposed to actually wanting to see the tennis. Toff, inbred wankers. With no wit or originality at all.

As for Murray? Wonder if he will be wearing the Paraguay t-shirt anytime soon? I actually respected him for wearing that. So he should. As a proud jock he should always want England to lose. Proud Englishman here...unlucky sweaty!

I am not a Murray fan, never really been a fan but I will cheer him on if I see him, after all it would be nice for a British player to win something. Can't see him EVER winning a grand slam though, I mean even today, early on he looked on fire but Federer who was playing badly still managed to keep up with Murray. I just feel Murray at a 100% is easily matched by the likes of Federer/Nadal/Djokovic at 75%. I think those 3 will keep Murray away from winning a major tournament.

Having said that, I think he has vastly improved in the past year, if he can continue to improve then yeah he might have a chance.

So apparently dn013, Fed isn't the greatest of all time? Or is it him winning that isn't a great story? Perhaps he didn't commit unforced error after unforced error during the first set? Perhaps Murray is on the same level as him, Nadal and Djokovic? Fed has 17 slams, Rafa 11 and Novak 5. Andy has none so I can see the comparison...

The first paragraph was just wrong. The cameras kept on showing the royal box but he vast majority of that crowd was your average middle class Wimbledon goer.

Second paragraph is pathetic. When the olympics role around are you going to boo every Scottish and Welsh athlete performing for team GB because you are a proud Englishman?

Fed is the greatest of all time. Him winning for a 7th time isn't a great story in my book. Maybe he committed so many unforced errors because Murray was aggressive and made him hit those errors?

Maybe you should root for the Brit at Wimbledon because you are British?? Instead of just glory hunting.

No. I don't boo anyone, not even judas. Booing is pointless in my eyes.

I like Fed, I don't like Murray. I respected him for wearing that Paraguay shirt as I said. He is Scottish so why would he want an Englishman to win? As for Scottish and Welsh winning in the Olympics? Good luck to them. Different thing entirely. The Olympics is a better representation of sport in general. I love it. I was cheering like a mofo when Dai Greene won the world gold, brilliant sporting moment.

Tennis is hideous in comparison. Pompous crowd, every other shot is of the gf or wife 'going through the ringer' etc.

That seems silly. Why would I cheer on somebody I don't like just because they are British? I'd rather cheer on a person that I actually like, I was cheering on Tsonga when he played Murray as I really like the guy.

He was committing them from the get go before anything was settled down. Fed being written off by everyone, 2 1/2 years since he last won a slam yet coming back and showing he still has a bit left to win another slam and regain number 1 slot is a great story!

I'm no glory hunter! Fed is a credit to sport. Carries himself superbly and is a fantastic role model. When he plays well it's poetry in motion, great to watch.

Tsonga is very likeable. Lot of talent too.

Since wearing that Paraguay shirt he has changed his tune though. He even broke down crying while playing Davis Cup for GB, I mean few tennis supporters actually cares about the Davis Cup so the fact that he was so emotional about winning for GB tells you something.

Well the cameramen didn't shy away from showing the royal box non-stop. But you have to remember that most of those tickets were bought before Murray made it through - and before the prices became extortionate. But obviously there were plenty sloanies and what nots there, so I agree with you that they are pretty disgusting people

Are you arguing that you feel no nationalism at all? Because if that is the case then fair dos and we just have a different belief system.

Quick question: When England played in the Euros, did you cheer for Spain because you didn't like any of the Chelsea or Utd players on the England team? I certainly dislike Ashley Cole and John Terry, but when they put on an England shirt I hope they do well.

And then I found out there's a naked photoshoot of him. My like then increased to lust I think.

On your own there!

Well, probably not as imagine plenty of other red blooded females feel the same!

Not my thing though. Still a likeable chap though for sure. Too nice probably

It's a team, it's different. I hate individual players, I still hate them while they play, but as a whole team I want them to win. Whereas Tennis is one individual, who I know comes from a certain country but I don't feel like they are representing a whole nation. This is why I've never felt the need to cheer him on.

I think that is fair for every tennis tournament, but Wimbledon. British players at Wimbledon have to represent both themselves and their country - they don't really have a choice as it is thrust upon them by most British tennis fans!
