As this seems to pop up every now and then in the transfer forum, I thought I'd start a thread.

Per the league:
Each squad contains no more than 17 players who do not fulfill the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.
The rest of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be "Home Grown".

2018/19 Remaining (and assumed 2019/20) Registered Squad Members:

HGP (7):
Alli
Davies
Kane
Rose
Trippier
Walker-Peters
Winks

excluded: Amos, Ogilvie

Non-HGP (14):
Alderweireld
Aurier
Dier
Eriksen
Gazzaniga
Sonny
Lamela
Llorente
Lloris
Lucas
Ndombele
Sanchez
Sissoko
Vertonghen
Wanyama

Excluded: Nkoudou

Dembele, Vorm, Ogilvie and Nkoudou were all registered last season. I doubt Nkoudou or Ogilvie will be registered this season. Additionally, Walker-Peters and Amos are no longer U21, so both will need to be registered if used. I assume it's unlikely that Amos will make the squad. So, as it stands, we have 14 of a maximum 17 non-HGPs. Additionally, we have 21 out of the maximum 25 players registered. A final point to consider is that next season is the last that Foyth will be U21.

Overview:

7 HGP (no limit)
14 Non-HGP (limit 17)
21 players (limit 25)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

25 List A players (out of whom two must be goal-keepers) and unlimited List B players

Out of the 25 List A players, a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players are allowed to be in the squad. Other 8 should be homegrown.

Out of the 8 locally trained players aka Homegrown, a maximum of four can be Association-trained, other 4 should be club trained.

Differences to PL:

Davies is not considered locally trained due to having been trained at a Welsh club.

HGP (6):
Alli (association-trained)*
Davies
Kane (club trained)
Rose (club trained)

Trippier (association-trained)
Walker-Peters (club trained)
Winks (club trained)

4 Club Trained Players (no limit)
2 Association-trained (limit 4)
15 Non-HGP (limit 17)
21 players (limit 25)

I think it's worth adding the CL criteria to the opening post as well (assiuming it's still different).

Updated. Pretty much Davies is not association trained. As such, he counts against the non-home grown count. We can only add 2 more to our CL registration list, at the minute. Additionally, we can only add 1 more association-trained player.

Doesn't Foyth go on the A list for CL? I'm sure that's the reason he was left out of last years CL squad for the group stages.

Would have to check, but I think he can go onto the b list this year as he has been with us for 2 uninterrupted seasons. Just not sure if he is still young enough or not

Re: first post, I think Rose is club-trained, and I think Dele might now be considered club-trained also, but we might have just missed the cut-off for him. We signed Dele when he was 18, and I think you need 3 years before you turned 21, but I don't know how that is calculated.

Any issue with either going out on loan?

yes i believe Rose is club trained as he spent 3 years on the clubs books before turning 21, dele only had 2.5 years. I did the math on it for my earlier post a while ago cba to double check.

The differences in the squads could get very extreme if, as expected, we sign Sessegnon and Clarke. Both would need registered in the CL (having been at the club under 2 years), but not in the PL. Although Foyth has now been with us long enough to be included in the B-squad in CL, so that helps us out.
