Mbappe was pretty anonymous against Barca - yes he scored two goals but one was a pen and the other a tap in.

He's an excellent player - I just think he's knackered. In a genuine way, not in a "limp for sympathy" way. He's played far too much football because they have no alternative for him.
Could well be tiredness and I know he's been flogged by Arteta but and this is a genuine question... does he do more than pick it up edge of the box cut in and shoot or get a cross in? There's no denying he's effective at that but I've not seen at lot else every time I see them however I'm not watching much of him.

Re Mbappe, if you're going to be pretty anonymous, which can happen to the best of them at times, finishing the game with two goals no matter how they come about is what separates the top players from the very good IMO.

Looking at this Bayern team with Kane at CF it’s hard not to think that they are nowhere near as good as the prime Poch team with Kane at CF. Player for player id say we were better in every position.
Neur in his prime may edge Lloris. Kimmich is a better footballer but Walker with his pace adds more at RB both in defense and especially in attack. Muisala and Dele are very similar in their precociousness. They have no one like Eriksen.
Overall this is not a very good Bayern team. Kane is wasted there.
We’ve known that since Xmas .

Tell you what though, what's the cracking about saka though, I know he scores rhe odd goal, but I just don't see what you get.

I've been critical of our brennan Johnson this year, but I'd rather Johnson over saka, I just don't see what's special
Agreed!

When you look at some of the upcoming and established wingers in Europe and S America, he really isn't in that bracket.

I think he is very effective at a few things and he suits Arteta down to a tee.

But I can't see him ever reaching a level where he is on par with Foden, Vini Jr, Rodrygo, Musiala etc.

Bellingham's just so good isn't he. Such an intelligent player both on and off the pitch.

Stuff like this should be shown in training academies across the country.

Give me this over the Pogba / Lingard type any day.

Think you just need to look at a player like Sancho, went to Dortmund, got his head down and appeared very level headed. Came back to Utd on big money lording it up and falling in with the hype merchants. Crashed back down to earth but Dortmund have picked him up again, grounded him a little and he was back playing some great football in Champs Lge quarter final against Atletico.

It's a tough one, jude comes across really well, humble, hard working ... been brought up and coached really well from a behaviour point of view, but then his little brother at a younger age cocky as they come...

When you think about it though it's probably quite different backgrounds as he's grown up in Jude's shadow with a mix of unrealistic expectations (to match his older brother) alongside more opportunities (due to his older brother).

No matter how good he is he will never be 'Jude' yet he has access to more money and attention without having to grind and work his way up. Agents and hangers on are probably throwing so many things at him and telling him how amazing he is but he hasn't had to really earn it like Jude did.

Bellingham's always been great in interviews. I remember seeing one he did after a Dortmund loss against Rangers 2 years ago (1st leg of the 1st round of knockout stage) and he was talking about keeping the players motivated for the 2nd leg and not letting them give up. Just incredible stuff, and he was only 18 then.

Here's another interview from after the same match:

He's got it all.

He speaks like a seasoned 45 year old. Can't believe he's as young as he is. I guess he's been groomed for this for most of his life though.

The Mbappe performance reminds me of our own Jimmy Greaves. You wouldn't know he was on the pitch for 89 minutes, then he'd pop up out of nowhere and score.
