As quite a few so called informed posters on here were saying, he's no better than Pav. Apart from scoring goals he brings nothing to the team.....

I tried tapping him up last season. United were playing Schalke at OT and I was sitting near Huntelaar. I said, "Huntelaar sign for Tottingham". But he ignored me. :(

I think choosing Crouch over Huntelaar has been harry's biggest mistake, yes crouch scored two very important goals but the way he made us play was disgusting

We have the second most shots per game in the EPL and near top of shots on target, we just need a CF that bangs in 20 league goals a season. Utd, Citeh and Woolwich all have one and it's also what has let Chelski down this season.

If there is indeed a 20m release then, considering we might not have Manu's services next year if a permanent deal can't be struck, then we'd be pretty foolish to not consider the bid. Sounds like it could be another Dutch bargain if it's true.

The bargain was to be had when we had the chance to sign him before he went to Milan but we chose Crouch instead. We then had a chance to make amends a year later when Milan wanted shot of him after signing Zlatan, we were a CL club then too, but chose to make do with what we had. Schalke snapped him up for 12m euros and he has repaid that faith with 51 goals in 72 apps and a further 15 goals in Internationals in that same period.....

Doesn't he, like most decent dutch players these days have a dodgy injury record?

If so then we may as well forget it because you know what our team are like.

We need 11 Kyle Walkers.

Yeah but he only scores against Churmun teams and they're like U-11 girls standard or something.

Last time we were linked Harry preferred Crouch over him.

As I recall, at the time it seemed to be between Crouch, Huntelaar and Negredo, all for around the same sort of money. Top choice Harry :bang:

Is that like you recalling that we only didn't sign Llorente because 'Harry didn't fancy him'?

We should have signed Huntelaar and Crouch, we'd already had to stomach Pav for a season.

I reckon we could get Leandro cheaper. Less proven for sure but also potentially world class.

Huntelaar AND Crouch would have been great. Crouch alone? Not great. Not at all. And yeah, we were extremely strongly linked with Negredo at that time and he was available. The big striker links in the media and on the forums back then were Negredo, Crouch and KJH.

As for this thing about me "recalling" about Llorente, I only go by what what certain itk's have said. Didn't claim it as my own knowledge did I? There's no need to be snarky about it.

So potentially world class is better than actually world class?

when did he become "world class" though? it's still germany and it's taken him until the age of 28/29 to have this kind of season.

And at international level. He is a natural goalscorer, a throwback to the likes of Jimmy Greaves.

I'd love us to sign him, if only to piss off Dan Ashcroft who, of course, doesn't rate him.

He could have had this type of season at Real if they gave him a fair chance and didn't ship him out after six months. Also at AC if Leonardo saw common sense and played him as a striker and not as a wide forward.

I don't think he's world class but his finishing ability is fantastic.

Even at RM and Milan wasn't his scoring ration reasonably good ? genuine question, I've not checked.

Personally I was all for signing him based him him being a marked improvement on stupor Pav and the invisible ant.

The bloke isn't Bergkamp but he is pretty robust, isn't blown off the ball by a gentle wind like Pav, Defoe & keane were and has a decent range of finish (left, right, head and generally keeps his head in the box)
