Even if Jones is a Muslim, and his partner does have a Muslim name, they can't be the religious type because Islam does not condone partnership out of wedlock.

Like with the Ribery/beer/prostitue thing I don't think someone not conforming 100% to a religion gives others the hit to be ducks. Fair enough if it was unknown that Jones held beliefs that made it more offensive. Maybe it was just a crappy joke that accidentally was given extra, undue meaning. Shit can happen and people can apologise. But if they knew he'd have an issue with it then its pretty fucked up.

Most people following either a religious or non religious path will be hypocritical at times to their own convictions.

He isn't muslim, he is a Rastafarian and his girlfriend may be religious but may not.

As for your point, it would seem that, what you are saying is that is fine to offend's someones religion, if they dont follow their religion properly or fully

There's not conforming 100% to a religion and then there's only being religious when it suits you. Ribery is very much the latter. I'm not an expert on Islam but I'm pretty sure Allah would be more pissed off at Ribery for knowingly committing adultery than his inability to avoid being drenched in beer by his team mates.

As for this Stoke 'prank', I think its got less to do with religion and more to do with an unfunny prank not going down well.

I heard on the guardian podcast it was a non alcoholic beer.

Though another way of looking it would be to that one would have their sins held against rather than one which they had played no part in.

I disagree judging by the tone of his girlfriends tweets it seems it has struck a chord with his beliefs

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

i just watched the ribery thing and he did a klinsmann dive at the end and didnt seem too bothered by it all, unless i was watching the wrong video.

Funny how at any other work place puting a pigs head near people personal belonging would be a sackable offence but in football its just banter and we wonder why players are like they are on another planet sometimes...

that being said if i was in that environment i would have found it funny but surely they would have know if jones had a sense of humor or not, or what his religious beliefs are to a degree.

Maybe religious people should grow the fuck up and get a sense of humour? Not that I find this funny in anyway but if someone's religious belief's are so easily offended perhaps their faith isn't as strong as they protest it is?

Not sure I agree with the use of fine. I strongly believe that people shouldn't be effected by other people's dogmas. However that doesn't give people carte blanche to just be a dick and have no repercussions. You can't expect to not get your car smashed in if you're purposely winding people up with offensive "banter".

Just don't be an asshole and most people will be fine, if you decide to be one especially if the person has beliefs that would make the joke a whole lot less funny (I'm not at all religious but I'm vegan so I'd probably have had the same reaction as Jones) then you have to accept there will be consequences.

Doesn't someone's sig on here mention Gascoigne bringing a gun to the ground and blowing Sedgley's car window out? Can't find anything online about it.

I was wondering why there was a brick lying around, there's building work going on over there. They covered Owen's car in flour and eggs this week ahead of his final game.

That was from an interveiw with Erik Thorstvedt in a Norwegian paper.

Yeah, totally unreasonable not to expect extensive criminal damage. In no way would it be an extreme overreaction. Being offensive isn't necessarily illegal, unlike smashing someone's car to bits.

Anyways, about this particular case, the entire thing is fucking creepy, regardless of who has whatever imaginary friends. What kind of fruit-fucking weirdo even thinks of placing the severed head of an animal in a locker as "jokes". Padded cell - stat!

Kenwyne and jones dont sound like muslim names to me. On a side note, if he is a christian or jew, he should be just as upset as the flesh of swine had also been forbidden in the old testament.
