A Propper Football Match

Last night I witnessed something I had not seen for ages, a proper football match, two teams going for the win, end to end stuff, tackels flying in, a bit of controvercy and lots of passion.

I think allot of guys on here believe that yesterday was a one sided game which we dominated, I didn't think so, I thought it was a very easily matched game, both sides had their chances, and both teams played some fantastic football.

There was a lot of passion on display from both sides, and a draw was a fair result, and it looked like there was a lot of respect shown amongst both sets of players at full time.

I enjoyed every minute of that game, it was gripping edge of the seat and thrilling, I wish there were more games like that being played in the premier league these days.

As for Spurs, I was hugely impressed with the way we played in the second half, Zokora was brilliant when we changed formation as was Chimbonda, Lennon and Bale.

Only down side was we didn't win! but things are on the up.

One other point, how shocked was everyone that Keane didn't get booked?

I thought West ham played well & could easily have won it, they probably created more chances than us beside our posession.

If Kaboul hadn't have gifted them a goal i think we might have done them 2-0, because we were all over them untill that and afterwards their confidence grew and our heads dropped a little.

Stupid decision to let Defoe take the penalty.. out of the 3 strikers on the pitch he's the one with the least minutes and the least goals.

Not really mate, Defoe has always been the penalty taker behind Keano and often in the passed has stuck them in the back of the net. I don't really think it comes down to who's scored the least goals or what minutes they've had, credit just has to go to the keeper who made a decent save from a firmly struck pen (tipping it onto the post shows that it was likely hit with good force).

Also it appears Green did his homework because in the corresponding fixture last season, JD scored a pen, in the same goal going the same way as he did yesterday and Green went to his right, this time he remembered, gambled, and it paid off for him.

A draw was a fair result, would've been harsh of Wham if we'd won. Younes will be a quality player one day but right now he's not ready for the speed of the prem, he wants too much time on the ball.

Agree about the match, very exciting stuff and both teams played well. West Ham did create well and thats where i felt we lacked. Agree with above that if they had not been 'given' that goal, then we would have scored more.

It was a tremendous game right up there in the catalogue of very good games between the two teams - though not of the classic status of our 4-3 win 3-2 FA Cup win and the 2-2 I saw there back in the late 60s - all those three had great goals to add to the passion and intensity

I thought it was an annoying game. It entertained me during the 90mins yet left me with nothing to be happy about.

I would have been happier if Defoe had scored, but the fact is that after this so called "propper" (sic) game had finished we were nursing too many bruises and dropping a place down the table.

Are you really satisfied with that?

In my view Spurs tried to play good football (save for Kaboul's error), but we got sucked into playing the way West Ham were playing.

Had we have lost I would have been absolutely furious.

I hate West Ham....

Weird game... Before the game I would of been happy with 1-1 away to west ham at upton park, but missing that pen at the end felt like a defeat, it dont feel right!!?!?!

I thought it was all tottenham for most of the match, we played the better football, yes they did have a few chances at the end because he changed it around and was left a bit open at the back. I thought we played well and was unlucky, has it helped robbo that he got dropped? Think he has been doing much more training.

I dont think it was the greatest game due to west ham trying to stifle us at every opportunity and so the ref kept stop starting the game. I was happy with the fact that if it wasnt for the under performing Kaboul (needs to keep it simple like ledders)and his mistake we would have kept another clean sheet. Overall Spurs played well though - just didnt like the fact Berba was asked to play pretty deep - he needs to get us goals and get his confidence up.

How about this philosophy, Keane is scoring goals, his confidence in front of goal is good, so to play him deap and Berbatov up front may not work, however Berbatov despite his lack of goals has been getting the assist and his build up play has been good. So it really made sense to play them in that formation.
