A question about Paul Scharner (that I probably already know the answer to)

Paul Scharner's goal against us was handball, right? But it stood, hence he didn't get booked for it. Hence it is able to be retrospectively viewed and punished with a ban.

Did that ever happen? Because it really bloody should have done.

I know we pity Wigan for getting stuffed and it makes absolutely sod all difference to THFC (hence why this is in GF), but in the context of Henry-gate and refs aiming for consistency and accountability, he should have been dealt with... shouldn't he?

Yes it should have been looked at.
I can't believe Felliani's elbowing last week has also been let go, I'm sure if it had happened against the sky 4 it would be looked at.
It seems that if a story arises out of the game, Spurs getting 9 the Everton comeback, the FA are happy to brush it under the carpet.
The fact that the officials got away with the Scharner one is also annoying, there is really no excuse for missing it.

The ref's decision was final on that one.

To be honest, it was worth it to see him run away with the clenched fist, looking in vain hope like he was going to get something out of the game.

Agree with both comments. And like I say, we're not going to benefit from any action anyway (score won't change, Scharner won't miss games against us but might against our rivals). However, strictly speaking it should have been dealt with. The mechanism to deal with serious transgressions of the law is there to help the ref and hurt the cheats. To not use it promotes an environment of double-standards and distrust in authority.

Mind you, I guess it might have taken a complaint from us and we would have been real ****s to have done that. Especially given the scoreline.

If you watch the incident again, it looks like Woodgate deliberately tried to save it on the line with his hand too.
