At the tender age of 19, I missed out on the past glories this club once had, and instead grew up on a diet of midtable mediocricy and average veteran players. Martin Jol was the man that allowed me to hold my head up for the first time as a Spurs fan, he gave me the belief that I would see the type of acheivments that my Dad speaks of. Two fantastic seasons saw us reach Europe, we looked settled for the first time in my life, a bit of consistency. And after a slight blip only 3 years in, it all comes to an end. I am now concerned that we have slipped back into the rash decision making trends that I long detested.

Good Luck Martin with whatever you do in the future and most importantly thank you for allowing me to be proud to be Spurs!

I put a brave face on it last night. I think the disappointment of the result, the stress of the last few months and the news that he'd finally gone had numbed me.

In the cold light of day, I have to say, I'm utterly heartbroken. I don' tknow if three years counts as an era, but on a personal level, it's the end of an era for me.

Perhaps if we gain some success in the future, the pain of last night will be put into some sort of context, but for now it stings.

I’m gutted by last nights turn of events. I can’t believe someone else has a Dougal hat

I don't even remember buying it. I was looking for a wooly hat to keep my head warm at the match and I found it my bottom drawer.

At least we don't share the same hairstyle beneath it. That would be frightening!

Agreed. The next guy will have to be a serious success to outdo Martin Jol. Let's hope he is.
