They're a bloody horrible club. Some of the sorest losers in football. Wenger rarely credits when the opposition are better than his team and always looking for excuses. There's always someone or something to blame. I hate this misconception of them by the media that they're a classy team, when really it's because they play attractive football and not because they have class.

They're not as dirty as they used to be I'll admit that. They're still bad sports though. They will happily dive to win a penalty or leave a foot in on a player when things aren't going well for them. Most of their fans are clueless and don't seem to realise how they've been punching above their weight for so long under Wenger. The success has definitely got to them over the years.

The only Arsenal player I actually hate is Wilshere these days.

Sneezy and Podolski are dicks but of the comedic variety.

Ergh!!! the history alone of Arsenal FC should warrant enough to make you HATE them. Such a bent, crooked club that cheated there way to get to where they are. I hate their fans, and I have so many twat faces Arsenal friends that keep posting Arsenal FC updates on FB which appears on my page. Gracious when they lose, but when they win they are the biggest ****s in the world. I fucking hate the way they always say forever in our shadow as well. Fuck the lot of them and lets finish above them!

How about a little Arsenal history:

http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/henry-norris-man-who-would-be-king-arsenal

Maybe after you see how bent they are you might not feel the same way as you do now!

Just to add if we lose tonight and they win. They will be out of shitty little hidey hole gloating and giving it all the shit about being above us again. You will see!

I agree with the OP. It's a good rivalry.

Put it this way, if Arsenal went bust, I'd probably be a tab miffed (if they turned rubbish and got relegated that would be hilarious obviously but I'm talking about actually disappearing), but if Chelsea or West Ham went out of business I couldn't care a jot. Horrible clubs.

The myth that gets me the most, that is purported by the media, is that Wenger's success at Arsenal is built on this beautiful footballing philosophy of youth, and development. Absolute rot.

His immediate, and short term, success was built entirely on spending fuck loads of money on the likes of Viera, Petit, Pires and Henry, and just happening to inherit not only one of arguably the best back fours in English football, but also the England goalkeeper, Marc Overmars and Denis Bergkamp.

And the only reason he's gained this reputation for developing youth, is because it was forced on him by the huge amount of money they had to pay off for their awful battleship stadium. Not too mention it was him that started devaluing the cup competitions with his playing of the kids under the guise of "development".What happens once he get's some cash again? Blows it on the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Carzola.

Dont get me wrong I love beating the old enemy but for me I dont particulary hate them. In fact I can say with absolute certainty I dislike Chelsea, City (Because of how they have gone about getting their success) and Liverpool (Their delusinal fans and theyre self believing god given right they should be the best in the league) alot more than i do the woolwich wanderers

All my Arsenal friends were very gratious in defeat and Im sure like me most Spurs fans have mates who are gooners and working in the city Spurs and Arsenal fans are everywhere. It makes for a great rivalry. I would say without question the best in the league.

Both clubs have tried and trying to buid success the right way and both teams play good football.

I also like the fact their seems to be alot of good hearted banter between the players. Its nothing too nasty but does spice it up and thats a good thing. I dont understand why Walcott is so disliked by some Spurs fans for showing the score after getting absolute pelters from Spurs fans. We would all of done the same! Its human nature. I liked his comments before Saturays game saying he enjoys the atmosphere in a NLD and how its the fixture he looks forward to the most and what a tough test it is playing us.

I even quite liked those videos with the chap called Claude and the pirate looking bloke before and after the game. Nothing wrong with that.

Of course I want to beat them and it would be great to finish above them, That is a given. I just think the rivalry since around 2005 has been very healthy and great for both clubs. There is respect between the two north london giants now. From 1996 until 2005 the gap is was too big. This isnt the case anymore and there isnt much between the two teams. Cant wait until the new stadium is eventually built so we will aslo be able to compete with them off the field also.

This great old rivalry will continue to grow and grow and get better and better.

They've qualified for the champions league 17 years in a row to our one time, we have only beaten them one time ever at the Emershits and the last time we finished above them in 1995 at the moment the league table is close and we've just beaten them but this is February we should really wait until the seasons finished before coming to the conclusion that there isn't much between the two teams.

But there ISN'T much between the teams. That much is self evident.

Over the course of the last six seasons (including this one), both clubs have a home record in north London derbies of won 4, drawn 1, lost 1. And the league positions (and quite often the points difference) between the two clubs could hardly have been any closer in most of those seasons. Same goes for this season thus far.

I'm all for cautioning Spurs fans not to get carried away with predictions of our rise and Arsenal's fall. But that doesn't mean that we have to blind ourselves to the truth that there is little to choose between Spurs and Arsenal currently.

All biases aside, I think they're still marginally ahead of us right now in terms of the football played.

There is a massive difference between the teams, psychology wise Arsenal players believe totally they will get champions league and finish above us, they are capable of just turning it on and picking up the right amount of points to get them there.

By saying what you are saying you're raising the expectation level.

Did you celebrate when Campbell put them ahead in that Champions League final and did you cry when they lost? :p

That would be weird.

I wouldnt necessarily say 'celebrate' but I certainly would want English teams to win European trophies ahead of teams from other countries.

It may just be the way i was brought up but I do not really despise Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham. - of course i dont like losing to them, especially at times when we have been clearly better.

As a kid and a Spurs fan in the late 70s and early 80s I remember my Dad also wanting the trophies to be won by London teams ahead of the teams from up North. It was a north/south rivalry that was stronger for us that the spurs/arsenal rivalry. The first cup final i clearly remember as a kid (age 7) was the 1979 final - surely a testament to my Dad that I was bought up a Spur after that!! - but we were happy that arsenal beat Utd that day.
More recently (1989 i think), we cheered when arsenal beat liverpool 2-0 away to win the league.

For me, the London rivalry and dislike of other teams occupying the capital is a much more recent trend that has surfaced since the game has been much more money orientated - maybe that is part of it somehow or maybe its a generational thing...
...or maybe its just me and dad!!

Are you Bruce Forsyth???

Your not seriously coming on a Spurs forum saying you cheered a scum title and not really expecting to get flak ?

Your either a WUM or a Vicar.

If the Nazis were to reform and create a football team called 'Nazi United' - I would prefer them to win European trophies over Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, or either of the Manchester teams.

I can't fathom a world where a Tottenham fan would ever want one of their domestic rivals to beat a team that we have no rivalry with.

Think I've used this phrase on here before, but the way I put it is:

I hate Arsenal because I'm Tottenham. I hate Chelsea and West Ham because I'm human.

Agree but I think this is all true to a far greater extent with Chelsea.

Our rivalry with Arsenal is important, it's much better when we're closely matched and I'd far rather play in a cup final against them than anyone else because it only adds to a game when we meet. Chelsea and West Ham I'd love to see relegated but I'd miss Arsenal if it happened to them, not that any of that's likely at the moment of course.

I know plenty of Spurs fans that hate the NLD, all week they're nervous and pessimistic and it continues into the game, unless we're winning. Personally I love it, yeah it ruins my weekend if we lose, to me everything about the NLD is all of the best bits of supporting a team all rolled in to one match. Give me the NLD of those nervous Merseyside Derbies, toilet Tyne-Wear games and billionaire dick measuring contests in Manchester. Chelsea and West Ham are so jealous of it they keep trying to stoke up the same kind of rivalry with us and Arsenal but failing miserably.
