Dont get me wrong I love beating the old enemy but for me I dont particulary hate them. In fact I can say with absolute certainty I dislike Chelsea, City (Because of how they have gone about getting their success) and Liverpool (Their delusinal fans and theyre self believing god given right they should be the best in the league) alot more than i do the woolwich wanderers

All my Arsenal friends were very gratious in defeat and Im sure like me most Spurs fans have mates who are gooners and working in the city Spurs and Arsenal fans are everywhere. It makes for a great rivalry. I would say without question the best in the league.

Both clubs have tried and trying to buid success the right way and both teams play good football.

I also like the fact their seems to be alot of good hearted banter between the players. Its nothing too nasty but does spice it up and thats a good thing. I dont understand why Walcott is so disliked by some Spurs fans for showing the score after getting absolute pelters from Spurs fans. We would all of done the same! Its human nature. I liked his comments before Saturays game saying he enjoys the atmosphere in a NLD and how its the fixture he looks forward to the most and what a tough test it is playing us.

I even quite liked those videos with the chap called Claude and the pirate looking bloke before and after the game. Nothing wrong with that.

Of course I want to beat them and it would be great to finish above them, That is a given. I just think the rivalry since around 2005 has been very healthy and great for both clubs. There is respect between the two north london giants now. From 1996 until 2005 the gap is was too big. This isnt the case anymore and there isnt much between the two teams. Cant wait until the new stadium is eventually built so we will aslo be able to compete with them off the field also.

This great old rivalry will continue to grow and grow and get better and better.

Spot on.

I'm still buzzing to be honest and I'm hoping the players are too. May help us get a good result against the Scouse.

From a psychological point of view I think that result is huge for us.

They don't seem so bad when we spank them...............they are absolute ***** when they beat us...

Hate is not really a word that should go hand in hand with sport anyhow, but for me growing up in Edmonton , the scum are the ones i want to beat the most, and not lose to the most,

As for the rest, the Pikey fans i really dislike closely followed by the chavs, the rest i'm not really that fussed about, i actually just laugh at the scousers .
City fans i disagree with, they were poor for decades but stuck by their club so i sort don't mind them even if their club is doing things the wrong way, thats not really their fault is it?

Arsenal are by far the most popular team among my mates :(. To be fair none of them have ever gloated to me when they've beat us and all the ones i've spoken to since Saturday have said we fully deserved it. The only mate I have who is a dick about football is a West Ham fan. I think this says a lot less about Arsenal fans in general than it does about my choice of friends .

I make no apologies for hating Arsenal.

I don't care that they try to do things "the right way" (whatever that's supposed to mean). I don't care that I have great mates who are gooners. Logic doesn't come into it. They are Arsenal, therefore they are hateful and hated. Nothing more to it.

I hate Chelsea too. For much the same reasons (I have great mates who are Chelsea fans too). Nothing to do with Abramovich's riches or doing things "the wrong way". If anything, I hate them slightly less since they became a Russian's plaything. Their success now seems meaningless to me. Weird, I know. Maybe, like adrenalin, it's my body's way of numbing pain.

Yes, and I even hate West Ham too. Like the other two, it's a London thing. And it's important to smack them down whenever they start getting too cocky.

City, I couldn't give a monkey's about. Liverpool fans are gobby twats and fully deserve to be spanked every now and then. But I'm as likely to laugh at their silly delusions and self aggrandisement as I am to be infuriated by their arrogance. So it's not full on hate for them either.

Utd, I only hate when we play them - mostly for their endless referee bothering. But, as a rule, I still live in enduring gratitude to them for being the only thing that prevented total domestic dominance for first Arsenal and then Chelsea over the past 15-20 years.

I like the idea of a 'rival'. Arsenal, for good or bad, are our rival, and have been for a century. We are linked. I love the 'rivalry'. My brothers a Gooner and we've been following our respective clubs for over thirty years.

Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham and now Man City all grind my gears far more than Arsenal.

I had a soft spot of Man City prior to them being 'doped' as they had a similar ability to shoot themselves in the foot (Still to to some degree).

At this current moment losing to Liverpool is the worst feeling, followed by West Ham. When Chelsea or City beat us I just feel like 'well done, your spend billions of pounds and you should be beating us'. That attitude tends to really wind their fans up as, in essence, it says 'you guys don't really count, your clubs been doped'.

So, in conclusion, I agree with Jimbo...and am feeling very nervous about Anfield tonight.

I also think we have a collective duty to make the North London Derby something really special. That also winds up the Chelsea and West Ham fans who lack that top-end rivalry.

As stated above, I don't really have an issue with Theo as what he did was light-hearted. Some of the post-match goading by the Arsenal players is poor form but I just hope our players don't engage in that which they generally don't.

We do, in the main, seem to be quite a classy outfit. Our Manager doesn't whinge and our players seem to generally come across as decent fellows.

It has always been my opinion that the NLD is the biggest, or certainly the fiercest derby in English football. In the eighties it was absolutely mental. LIverpool and Everton has always been a friendlier affair with them sitting together etc bollocks and ManC have only existed as a serious rival to ManU for a couple of years.

I love the NLD, always have but I find it very hard to hate Arsenal other than twice a year. They have been a brilliantly run club, playing football to envy for two decades, have a coach who has changed the game for all of us and has plenty of integrity (apart from his occasional post match blindness), and nearly all the arsenal fans I know are really nice geezers.

Football is going soft, they're the enemy FFS.

Walnut, Wilshere and that Szczęsny - detestable.

Most Arsenal fans I know snigger at the thought of Tottenham, patronising doesn't even come close to describing them.

They may do things the right way as a Club, but that doesn't change my opinion on their fan base.

Hope the rivalry doesn't weaken, the more intense the better IMO - as the atmosphere was fantastic on Saturday.

Nah, I hate Arsenal because they're manager is a classless twat... smug in victory, ungracious in defeat. And they have had a long line of complete ****s play for them; Adams, Merson, Wright, Viera, Pires, Eboue, Flamini... and currently Chesney and Wilshire. George Graham was a bung taking, anti-football misery; and for a long time they had that weasel Dein as chairman and on the FA board. There's a long string of ****y behaviour from the lot of them:- Overmars scoring against Sheffield Utd from a throw in back to their keeper after it had been kicked out for an injury, Keown and co haranguing Nistelrooy, Viera in general... not to mention Walcotts shit eating 2-1 gesture.

Nah, I hate them... not just because they're a local rival (which means less to me than others as I'm not from London), but because ever since I've been into football they've been a pack of shits.

Fuck them.

It may just be the way i was brought up but I do not really despise Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham. - of course i dont like losing to them, especially at times when we have been clearly better.

As a kid and a Spurs fan in the late 70s and early 80s I remember my Dad also wanting the trophies to be won by London teams ahead of the teams from up North. It was a north/south rivalry that was stronger for us that the spurs/arsenal rivalry. The first cup final i clearly remember as a kid (age 7) was the 1979 final - surely a testament to my Dad that I was bought up a Spur after that!! - but we were happy that arsenal beat Utd that day.
More recently (1989 i think), we cheered when arsenal beat liverpool 2-0 away to win the league.

For me, the London rivalry and dislike of other teams occupying the capital is a much more recent trend that has surfaced since the game has been much more money orientated - maybe that is part of it somehow or maybe its a generational thing...
...or maybe its just me and dad!!

Actual "hate" ? True burning "hate"? Over essentially a game?

Humans... sigh :p

Did you celebrate when Campbell put them ahead in that Champions League final and did you cry when they lost? :p

That would be weird.

@Jimbo78 What's your story? Everyone has had you down as an Arsenal fan on the wind up, but over time I don't think this is the case but you do confuse me ... a lot. Are you English, do you live local to London, go to games, are you young or old?

It would go a long way to helping me understand your position on the club. What you've written above I can understand and all your points are fairly relevant but they are written almost naively at times as if it is all new to you.

There is no better feeling than beating the goons. Even beating chelsea doesnt have the same elation to it, but maybe it would if we beat them away for the first time in god knows how long... You are right they do things the right way and their fans all be it deluded, smug and annoying aren't the same filth that supports Wet Spam and Chavski.

I personally hope Arse get rid of Whinger and they plummet in the table to mediocrity so we can laud it over them. For me nothing would be better than them becoming a wet spam sized annoyance like treading in dog shit.
