Very fine player. Tractor boys rave about him. Could see this happening for £4m

Don't be silly, he's English. Buying English players was so 2005.

Is he really any better than Rose & Fryers? Does he have more upside? Pointless

Never watched him but I know a couple of Ipswich fans who think he should be playing for England.

I'm not sure Shaw wants to leave yet. Signed a 5 year deal this summer.
I think if we are to have any chance of getting him it must be in the next 2 windows, because he'ss going to be out of our price range if he keeps progressing as he is.
I know we have spent big this window, but that is the Bale money, we have a overall negative net spend.

All this says to me is that the Ipswich fans you know are idiots tbh. Cole, Baines and Shaw play there.

Doesn't necessarily make the lad a bad prospect or for that matter potentially a great LB. I haven't a scooby as I don't recall ever seeing him play, but Cole is 33 come the end of the year, Baines 29 and so after the summer world cup England may well want two young lb's to develop within the team with the next WC in mind

Shaw looks a prospect but still has a lot to prove, if this lad is any good then it'll be great to have two young players of real potential pushing each other

On the other hand looking at some of the players that have caps actually playing for England doesn't necessarily mean anything. Lots of fans have a greater appreciation of one or two of their teams emerging players but sometimes they are right, a lot of Soton fans thought Bale deserved to be capped by Wales :D

I didn't say it made him a bad prospect. I just said his friends are idiots to say he should be in the England squad as LB is probably our strongest position.

Soton fans saying Bale should have been playing for Wales at the time had a point as there wasn't WC players in front of him.

I doubt it. He wouldn't be cheap, but there is no way they would want 25 million for him, in fact I would doubt his asking price would even be 20 million.

southampton are loaded, they have everything in place to attack the top 6/7 in the next few years, he's a massive talent on a five year deal. this isn't the same team we took bale from for £7m. i fully expect him to end up at chelsea in a couple of years time to replace ashley cole.

I agree he will probably end up at Chelsea, but at the moment he is still a prospect and despite not being in need of the cash there is always a price for players. An offer of around 17 million would constitute insane money for the kid and could lead to them selling him. It is a bit like someone offering us 20+ million for Townsend, he may be a great prospect but that is just too much money to turn down for a player who may not ever improve enough to command a regular starting place.

For all I know he might be the dogs danglies, I don't think I've ever seen him play, be interesting to see him play actually. Sometimes that happens a wealth of riches in one or two positions and then sweet fa in others.
Strange though, because generally there isn't exactly a huge amount of real full back talent around anywhere, just look at Arbeloa he has to be the one of the most at best average players around and yet has won everything at International level with Spain

Great isn't it? If we'd bought Baines off Wigan peeps on here would have slated us and not given him a fair chance. Now someone mentions Cresswell, then once again he probably isn't good enough. As it happens I looked before his name was mentioned for articles about the best left back in the lower divs and his name was consistently at the top of the list.

If the guy is considered a good prospect and we can pick him up for a reasonable price then we should consider him, along with anyone else we've identified.
