Good luck Aaron. Hopefully you don't improve them too much....

Based on the 20 minutes I watched he looked pretty disinterested in doing much work or running...

not true, everton as a whole look disjointed. they didnt keep possession and failed to initiate any fast counter attacks, their primary goal was to lump the ball to lukaku who failed to hold anything up. lennon came on and looked decent, few decent touches and cross when barkley came on. i think he'll improve them as an attackin threat.

Not even in the squad tonight. Hoping we haven't wasted our time loaning him to Everton

The weird thing about this move is that Everton play a 4-2-3-1 formation, which was pretty much the ongoing of Lennon with us.

They also have an attacking overlapping full back in Coleman, which again doesn't really suit Lennon's style.

With everyone fit I can't see Lennon being first choice for their attacking three.

Lennon players best in a 4-4-2 / 4-4-1-1 with a more defensive Stalteri / Corkula right back behind him.

Thot lennon look good for everton, he did what he does best, run out wide, get to the byline and try to get a ball into the box.

thats what lennon does best, works as a wide midfielder, and not a right forward

They do play a 4-2-3-1 but Martinez has always preferred having one inverted winger and one traditional winger to supply stretch. Where Lennon can thrive in it is because they don't sit so incredibly high as we do, and so he has much more room to buildup momentum and affect the game through space. It's tougher for traditional wingers to affect the game for us because with the compacted field, they're often crossing into already organized boxes.

What happened to McGeady?

What happened to McGeady?

No idea, don't pay enough to attention to them tbh to follow too many specific players. But when I watched, he mostly played on the left. Last year, they did well with Deulofeu providing width but directness on the right, and Mirallas and McGeady cutting in from the left. This year, it doesn't seem as though they've been able to maintain balance without a genuine provider of width, hence why I think Martinez came in for Lennon.

looks like lennon's playing up front here, or at least very centrally. have always wanted to see him get a go in that role.

Remember Jol starting him centrally away at Chelsea one time - Spurs were 2 nil up at half time, but Maureen (think he was the manager) worked out how ro counter Lennon in the 2nd half and it ended 2-2. Don't think Jol played him there again, despites its first half success

Won a penalty and got Coloccini sent off today. Seems to be doing alright, think Everton is a good fit for him.
