We cant keep buying players without trimming the squad and recouping some money.
It's not always about who we want to sell as much as who we get offers for.
eg. we wanted rid of Bentley for 2 years, but no one wanted to buy him so he ended up being released.
Had Townsend not shown he can ct it, then I dont think we would be listening to offers, but Townsend is younger on a cheaper contract, and I cannot remember when Lennon last got though a full season without being out for a month.
And our dip in form usually coincides with when he's out.
We need more options on the wing. Can still due a job cutting in from the left in a 4-3-3 & better option for this than Siggy.
Pace frightens fullbacks and he has it in spades.

If it means that we keep Andros I would sell.

Not that I don't like Azza but I feel that Andros offers far more and As someone quoted the other day there is no place for sentiment in football

I have to say I think this preference of Townsend over Lennon after one game is frankly ludicrous. I think Townsend has potential but Lennon has been one of Tottenham's most attacking players against top full backs for years and years.

Agree with this but does lennon fit in with avb structure i.e. is he adaptable enough and does he do enough as a wing forward

I am not so sure.

If he gets 10+ assists then I don't really care if he only scores 3-4 goals. Finally we have a fox in the box type striker who will benefit Lennon better than say Ade, who was often everywhere else but in the box last season.

My only concern is Lennon's ability to find his man at the right time. At the top level you will only get a few opportunities and you need to make them count. Unfortunately this is his weakness. Also if we lost Lennon don't we fall foul of the requirement for 8 players being over 21 and in an English youth system for 6 years?

If its been answered before I is sox but I have been on hols with no wifi. From my reckoning Chelscum have an even harder problem as I can only account for 4/5 players if they get Willian?

If we had strikers in the box and strikers that didn't miss a lot of sitters last season Lennon would've had many more assists IMHO. I don't think his crossing is as bad as some people make out.

Mate, it's been answered over & over again. You DON'T have to have 8 home grown players, just a maximum of 17 none home grown. Click on this link http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/25-man-squad-homegrown-players.100261/page-2 There's only 2 pages & all the info you require is in there (y)

Coops, you are too patient. I am getting sick of people asking this same question and I am a newbie.

Cheers.

Mate I am also fed up of that question being asked, in pretty much EVERY bloody article or topic. Hopefully I'll post that link in enough places for the info to be readily available for everybody & then the question will stop being asked (y)

Townsend's had a couple of good games for us - imho it's too early to talk about getting rid of Lennon on the back of this. Townsend can just as easily carry the ball too far and lose it as we saw in pre-season.

Lennon had multiple oppurtunities to find the predatory soldado vs palace but dawdled that split second too long and the chance fizzled out. Yes he won the penalty but through luck rather than being too good for his full back. Lenny is a legend but I don't think he has that ruthlessness or the impulsiveness to be a top end performer in Avb's preferred system. If we can get 12m say, that would be good business imo

I'm with you on this. If we can find a better replacement then it is the right time for us both to move on. My only concern is that we can have too many newboys and they will take time to gel as they have had no pre-season together and we have seen before that the foreign players need time to adapt to our rough and tumble premiership!

Lennon is garbage. Never understood how folk rate him. He's basically got a bit of pace and nothing else. Occasionally, he goes through a two week burst where he looks a player and scores a goal or two and delivers a decent ball. In the main though, he is ineffective, can't produce a final ball, blows more chances than he creates due to his dawdling and doesn't score goals. I'd snatch someone's hands off at £12m.

The difference being Townsend has not seen as much game time as Lennon, so Townsend cannot be judged on a few pre season games, which were quite broken up and injury ravaged early on..
My own opinion is Townsend will prove to be a more flexible player, easier to coach and better suited to playing either side of the striker as either a direct runner at goal or a supplier on the left wing.. Lennon for me is a very one dimensional, predictable player..
