The Club is delighted to announce that Aaron Lennon has signed a new five and a half year contract, which sees him at the Club until 2012.

The 19-year-old joined from Leeds United in July 2005 and has since made 48 appearances in our colours, scoring four goals.

His swift breakthrough into the First Team fold was followed by international recognition and the now holder of seven England caps was a member of the World Cup squad that travelled to Germany last summer.

"Aaron has taken his chances and made himself into a regular First Team player in a short space of time and we often forget how young he still is," said manager Martin Jol . "As a player he is growing and developing, he is a great talent now and clearly there is so much more still to come. He is a prime example of the exciting young talent we are attracting to the Club."

Aaron Lennon added: "I'm feeling really settled here at the Club and I'm thoroughly enjoying my football. There is a terrific spirit in the squad and we have everything to play for this season."

Now thats The Hudd and Lennon on long term deals who else can we secure before the top four come calling again?
  3. RBlanch
This is his third contract in one and a half seasons....he must have a good agent!

Just heard this on the radio and logged on to say BLOODY GREAT!! This should put paid to Ferguson's attempts to sign him. He'd have to pay £25 million now! And most pleased to read Lennon's comments too, he is obviously vert happy at Spurs and has no intention of going elsewhere anytime soon.

Two long term signings and 3 good prospects in the last few weeks. Definitely been a good xfer window to date.

Could prove to be the best signing we make in this month's window. Unfortunately, the departure of Carrick is a reminder that players will not willing wait for us to reach our potential. Hopefully Huddlestone, Lennon and Dawson will be patient at Spurs and payback the investment thats been made in them. Personally, I think Defoe has shown over the last 18 months he'll be willing to stick it out at Spurs as I'm sure he would have manufactured a move if he wanted one. Fact is, it will be imperative that we strongly challenge for honours this season in the cup as CL is now beyond us. Most players in our team are hungry to play in the Champions League yet we are a few quality players short of achieving this. Jol and Comolli are no doubt aware of this as they have mentioned they will only now sign; should the RIGHT player become available. These so called players I'm sure would be in the class of recent transfers - Zokora, Berbatov, Chimbonda.

Very good one - most important signal to send to other youngsters, who currently are speculating in moving to Spurs (Young, Bale, West Brom central defender  ...) - being

`Come play for us - you might get the chance here...!!`

    Very good news.

Good news!! now lets buy some quality experience to work with the dynamic youth and ditch the mediocrity we have. Play players in their favoured roles and get some direction so everyone knows what there doing.

    (not an impossible) wish list.
1 CB Tal Ben Haim. 25yrs old, prem experience and solid.
1 LW Barry. 26yrs old, been around forever, scores plenty and would die for the Spurs cause.
1 Striker. Darren Bent, top scorer in prem last season and 9 this season in a crap team, natural scorer with pace.

    Ditch.
Staltari, Gardner, Murphy, Tianio, Ghaly, Mido.
Retain davids and stick him on the coaching staff.

Feckin' amazing! Great news. Wonder if Mourinho and Fergie are as pleased as I am???

nearly 20 years old, and already a legend!!!!!

    :clap::clap: :clap:

Great news! I thought he might sign for Man U at the end of season as Fergie might win the title and have the extra pull that any youngster would find difficult to resist.

Now hopefully we'll go on and make one significant signing this transfer window

Yes!!! i think we are going to offer him a 5 year contract evry year! I hope we do aswell it gives a message out to all the clubs interested that he is not going anywhere!!

  14. chiveliyid
Great news, flung my arms to the sky as I read this. As good as a signing, I love him very much!
  15. mawspurs
That is excellent news. Good work by the management team and well done to Lennon for showing its where you're happy that counts not filthy loot, Duff and Parker take note.

This may well help us attract a few more quality players too.
