I think you misunderstoof me :) It wasnt a statement, it was more like a question.

To reword it. Im an accumulator newbie, so I was asking if you felt its better / easier to win money by sticking larger sums on a few dead certs or by putting smaller amounts on more matches with some upsets in there to increase your odds; because from what ive seen in this thread, the people that tend to be winning are those that are putting between £15 - £50 quid on 4 or 5 teams (favourites) to win there games. Whereas ive been putting quids here and there on over 10 matches (with a few upsets) and have yet to win a accumulator.

I guess its down to personal preference, but does anyone here have a particularly good record, and a saferproof way of playing and winning on accumulators?

Thats what I do Racky, and I have quite a good record by doing it that way. But nothing is a cert and it is down to opinions aswell.

Houdini is going for the Sir Bill Nick way of ACCAS by aiming high and failing, so there is a case for both.

I see, whats your biggest win?..

..and what would you typically bet on one accumulator, because your not going to get great odds when you predict, united, chelsea, arsenal, man city and spurs all to win - so do you throw in an unpredictable match in there somewhere or what?

My biggest recent win was on Scottish divs 1-2-3.
The stake was £13.50 and i won just over £12.500.

3 divisions = 15 games.
Pair div 1 with div 2, and div 2 with div 3, and div 1 with div 3.
And you have 3 sets of 10 matches, 45 x 8 folds in each 10 match bet @ 10p = £4.50...x 3 = £13.50.
You can do the bet for as low as 1p on Will Hill = £1.35p.
If you can get all 15 correct then it usually pays about... £7000-£9000.
But i had 3 wrong in my winning bet, 3 late goals that ended in drawn matches, bastards...

OR

You could put the £13.50 on a 4/7 shot and have a return of £21.21p... if it wins!

I like to have fun when betting, so i prefer to do all manner of accas, but that's not to say that i don't bet on singles, because i do, almost every day!

An E/W Patent is another favorite of mine!

There are so many other markets to bet on, Racky, rather than just 1x2.
For a £1 stake, and if you were confident that Bale would score at anytime in the Wigan game, you can get him @ 2/1, and along with Malouda 6/5, A Carroll 6/4, Scholls 11/4 & Gerrard 10/11. that is a £118.12p return for £1...should they all come in!
Bet on the teams for the same stake and it returns £4.47p....
The dilemma is, do you risk £40/£50 on the teams (returns £178.80 or £223.50) or £1?
There again, you could always put £40/£50 on the scorers....but as has been mentioned by Matty, it is down to opinions, and preferences in my case, and i would rather have 20 or 40 low stake accas but with the better/higher odds.

Houds, you've just confused the head off me.

It's really the same as the old football pools plan of 8 from 10, Mental..:)

I prefer to do accas that, if i have losers in the bet, i still get a return!

I have listened to people who take betting so seriously, that they get no enjoyment out of it...they become aggressive and extremely opinionated when they lose, and yet give it the billy big bollocks when they have a winner...

Some still insist that they have a way to beat the lottery...THE FUCKING LOTTERY Eek....

Lottery = An activity or event regarded as having an outcome depending on luck or fate.

Its fair to say you've confused the hell outta me too houdini :-D

How can you have losers in your bet and yet still win?!

..and I think I like the thought of doing low risk high gain acca's, but didnt understand at all the division 1/2/3 stuff. A 1 pound bet with a possible 7-9 grand return? Yes please.

I play on skybet btw, so is it possible to do it on that? I really cant be bothered to make an account on another site.

So that acca you described on the last page, it's kind of like the goliath bet from the comp last year? Only it seems from this one you'll have a far better return.

This is the bet i do on Scottish Football.

Eightfold(s)

  • Queen's Park v Berwick 6/4
  • Arbroath v East Stirling 9/4
  • Clyde v Albion 10/11
  • Elgin v Stranraer 17/20
  • Montrose v Annan Ath 13/10
  • Livingston v Forfar 3/4
  • Stenhousemuir v Airdrie 13/10
  • Ayr v Peterhead 5/6
  • East Fife v Dumbarton 23/20
  • Brechin v Alloa 13/10
45 x 5p 8 folds = £2.25
I need to get 8 correct out of 10 to get a return.

If i get all 5 in Div1 correct then i need to get 3, or more, correct in div 2 and div 3.
The reason i do these particular selections is because there are 10 teams in each Division = 5 games...x 3 = 15. (3x 10 blocks.)

EDIT: I dont bet on the Scottish divs 1-2-3 until i know what teams are shit, and what teams are shit hot!
Usually after about 7/8 games into the season.

This is an easier bet... (Selections are examples only)

1. CL winner. Man U @ 7/1
2. Europa Cup Winners. A Madrid @ 14/1
3. Prem Winners. Spurs @ 33/1

50p e/w Patent = £7.00.
You can have 2 losers in this bet but you would still get a return should the other win or get placed.

If all of them WON the returns would be £2624.71.
If just the lowest price selection won then the return would be £5.31.

I use the above bet a few times a week in horse racing.

Still dont understand what 8 fold etc.. means.

But by going on what you've posted, seems like you win more often then not houdini, am I right in saying that?!

I'm going to check my accounts for this year and see if i'm in front.....

It works out that i am about £1500+ up over the last year.
The figures are from another site i bet on using 'competetive betting', i dont bet heavily as it would suggest.
I know a few of those are e/w winners at 20/1, 33/1, 25/1, 12/1, 16/1, 12/1.
