Full-back @AdamSmith912 has joined Championship side Derby County on a season-long loan. More here - http://bit.ly/19s5t9q

Shame its not a PL loan to get experience there (and I am sure he could hack it at this level), but one assumes he is more certain of game time in a championship side (for a second season after last season at Milwall) - anyway good luck to him.

I guess this loan also means that Kyle Naughton is staying as back up RB, and possibly LB depending upon other incoming/outgoings this TW.

Completely pointless loan IMO - Derby aren't good enough for him, it won't be a true test for him, and I'd much rather he'd been in the first team squad as backup for Walker and we'd sold Naughton for a few million instead.

Gutted actually I was really looking forward to seeing Smith play for us this season.

He'll at least be Derby's first choice RB as they are selling/have sold their current one

It's a bit strange that he's sent down to the Championship again. He's 22 now and I would've thought he needed a PL loan to see if he could cut it at the top level. Clearly AVB rates Naughton higher as backup, even though I'm far from sure about that.

I thought he'd be battling with Walker for a spot to be honest. Seems strange to move to the Championship again but hopefully he'll have an excellent season there and push on.

In all likelihood hasn't done enough on previous loans to warrant PL loan interest.

Don't know why, but I watched derby v blackburn. Anyway their RB seemed pretty average, so smith should play.

Why the fuck have we loaned Smith to a team that didn't need a RB.

Really going to speed his development.

Am sure as part of the loan agreement we would have specified that he would likely play, otherwise a waste of time for all parties concerned - would be very surprised if he's not playing in a couple of weeks

Another stupid loan. He might as well be playing for our U21's or sitting on our bench.

He wouldn't make our bench, not even close. Naughton is clearly miles ahead and there are no guarantees he'll make it on bench every time.

I wouldnt worry about it yet, he should make the team but we seem send players on loan no where near fitness. Some teams dont play the players until they are match fit, some do. Last season Iago Falque was only match fit for 3 games but he played 14 which was the maximum barring injury
