...always thought it was a shame to let him go. He is a talented player who needs a good coach.

Feel like he'd be no upgrade on Trippier. He had potential back when he was coming through the academy, but never got the chance.

Not sure it'd be worth it to bring him back, especially if he's going to be more than what we paid

We didn't pay anything for him. He was at the club when he was 7. If you meant 'more than what we were paid by Bournemouth', things have changed dramatically in the past 3 years and transfer fees have gone through the roof. We would be paying Bournemouth for developing him into a Premiership player.

Predictable story. Look around the league for a replacement and find one who used to play for the club. Not the first time one of the papers has gone with this, either.

I don't see the bad in this deal honestly.

He would be a decent second string option if Poch deems Trippier starting quality.

If Adam smith was the option I think we would see a serious full time shift to three at the back. For me, Walker was much more sound when we went 4 at back this year.

Plus if we brought in a cheaper option we can put more money in attacking / cm options.

Gonna be doing capitalism-, wealth of nations- and invisible hand-jokes until I'm not only banned from SC, but the internet and society in general if this deal goes through.

Well if Walker does leave, perhaps Adam Smith can provide perfect competition to Trippier assuming there are no significant barriers to entry.

Maguire and now Smith both very average. Doesn't make any sense to me when we have a highly rated full back in the academy.

One of my favourite Scottish economists tbh, even if he is a bit dusty now. Get him signed.

If walker does go, personally I'd prefer us to try and replace with equal or similar quality, rather than relying on a slightly better than average player (Smith) or youth. Trippier is an ideal rotation option for the weaker sides due to his delivery and attacking prowess but defensively against top sides isn't quite as solid.

Now we've made it this far, it would be a real shame to miss the opportunity to solidify our top 4 position rather than weakening ourselves. Especially as CL football for the new stadium will be a major benefit for the acquisition of sufficient quality, to ensure the team gracing the new pitch is worthy of the surroundings.

But they can't play at CB at the same time.
We still have CCV, Wimmer, Davies and Wanyama all who can play there. Why am I having this argument? Just because an unlucky injury to Trippier could mean we have to thrust a young player forward should not be a reason not to give him an opportunity, particularly when the alternative is spending a fair sum of money on a technically limited player

I like Smith and wanted us to give him a chance when he was here ahead of Naughton but right now I think KWP has a higher ceiling. Think we should go for Veltman to provide cover for right back and centre back but not completely block KWP's path to the first team. Ideally I would keep Walker but I am resigned to him leaving.
