the death of his brother and the move to turkey falling through has probably really fuqed an already notoriously fragile player....

if he can bounce back, then he could be useful :cautious:

The move to Turkey was never on so it didn't fall through. They said at the outset they were surprised by how much wages he wanted and couldn't afford it.

He's not fragile, just plain lazy.

There is absolutely no need for this sort of post. The guy isn't a disgrace, and it wouldn't hurt for you to remember he has put in some fantastic performances for our club. Last season we were more fluent with him than without him and you have no idea what he is like behind the scenes.
He did what he always does. He played well until he got a big contract. As for being more fluent, that is complete and utter nonsense. When he did play he spent most of the time hanging about out wide and making zero effort

Interesting interview - I still think he can be a real asset.

Great interview, cheers for that, clears up a lot.

His absence makes more sense now but the most important thing is that he seems to be well aware of the level he should be at. Him playing in the reserves to find his sense of goal etc. His mentioning of 'referring to google to see what he's capable of all suggest that he knows what he should be doing on the pitch.
I think he very much knows that he has the ability to give as much to our team as anyone else currently at Spurs and it's good to get the suggestion that he's working and willing to reach a good level of importance to us.

Thats a great read, hopefully he will be back and in top form, might be a bit conteoversial but Ade 100% fit and firing is our best striker.

On form he's a better fit for our system than Soldado

I'd prefer us to adapt to Soldado though as he's so clinical, something Adebayor isn't.

I wouldn't go as far as this, as if we play the way we should be with Lamela/Townsend cutting in, Eriksen/Chadli supplying crosses and Holtby linking play then Soldado is an excellent choice as a lone striker, probably one of the best around due to his intelligent movement and finishing. However, Adebayor when he wants to play would undoubtedly offer us a different and very useful option.

He needs to get back in shape and he will do well. Missing a preseason is always bad for players. Modric was terrible for RM at the start of the last season because he had no stamina, similar case with Adebayor. It's still their fault for not working at all during the summer, but there are only a few players who work and train nearly every day.

We don't know everything, but if he is just lazy and doesn't work hard club can just fine him and save some wages. Felix Magath did it often and turned Mandzukic who was very lazy into one of the most hard-working players out there.

Absolutely this.

Soldado's movement and finishing is up there with the very best in world football. We havn't even integrated the creative components into this team yet.

Adebayor motivated and playing with some hunger would provide us with great options though.

I think when many of us have talked about how strong we will be this season that we didnt bring Adebayor into that reckoning. If and its a big if, we can get Ade fighting for the team/squad then that is another player who can be top quality on his day.

Come on Adebayor mate, your career is short so make it count or you will regret it.

Soldado, Defoe and Adebayor as our strikers is damn strong.

However, Adebayor is confident that he will ultimately emerge as the first-choice striker under Villas-Boas.
He said: "Today I will not tell you that I 'm stronger than Soldado or Defoe or Lamela.
"We now have four in the attack, I do not know who ranks first, second or third but I know at the end I will be the first and it is the most important."

this is what i like to hear

Yes I was going to mention that. Assume he did the interview in French. Also the bit where sometimes "everyone blows less good".

Don't beat yourself up Ade, I've never had a bad one (y)

Losing a family member is always difficult, especially a parent/sibling.

Ade is quality when he plays well, I felt that he got a hard time last season, because I thought he started to play really well up top.

He is a massive asset, there isn't much better out there that are better for that big man role either and if fit and hungry, he'll be great.

Plus it gives us real opportunity to change formations - we don't have to play with one up top all season, it's nice to change depending on opponent.
