Adebayor was actually very good at the back end of last season, so if he continues from there then we should be in good shape up front

We need him. Our best forward. Not a striker but he helps link the play and improves the whole team.

Maybe we can use him and Soldado together at home.

Lloris

Walker Kaboul Verts Rose

Townsend Sandro Paulinho Eriksen

Adebayor Soldado

When he's playing well Adebayor is a great asset to have in the team. He'd also be a good option to bring on when we're chasing a game, as he offers a physical presence that Soldado and Defoe lack.

Even if all 3 of our strikers are playing well, we'll have to buy at least 1 younger one before next season starts.

Adebayor seems to be a bit of an enigma and once "settled" at a club he always seems to let himself down one way or another.
Nevertheless as several have mentioned an on form Ade is truly a wonderful spectacle and a couple of his goals against us, while playing for Arse-anal, were just magic.
I would love to believe that after all the shit that has gone on in his life he is now at an age where he fully understands that should he screw up this latest opportunity AVB is giving him then the only way forward would be to teams of far less quality and importance than Spurs.

basically spurs squad with an Ade(head in the right place) is more of a treat and has a better chance of winning silverware than spurs squad without Ade.

Also with the option of Lennon, now we are talking, more pace in the team, physical presence upfront.

Gotta love how a club can make every effort to make their players look professional and carry an air of respectability about them....... Then said player decides to wear his tie like a 14 year old schoolboy and complete the look with a wooly hat.

I bet Sir Bill would have a few words to say to these idiots about what wearing a suit with the THFC badge on it is all about.

He needs us....Really? He's on over £100k a week. I'm sure he's fine. Anyway, this isn't a girly argument about who need's who and who is right or wrong. He's an employee of the club and can help us on the pitch.

He is our best forward. He can occupy the opposition defenders better than Defoe or Soldado and link midfield and attack. He is a poor striker but this is off-set by the balance he brings and the chances he helps other players create. Don't forget, he formed a very good partnership with VDV during a period where we played the best football in the league.

I'm not sure if you watched the West Ham game but sometimes you do need to mix up your formation. Otherwise it becomes predictable and the opposition can work you out. Playing 2 strikers at home can be very effective against the smaller teams. Particularly when we have a midfield with the defensive qualities of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue.

Adebayor has played at Arsenal, Man City and Real Madrid...so he has talent. He is a lazy bastard...everyone knows that, but if he gets fit and motivated then he can be a very effective player for us. There's a reason we were willing to pay his high wages, it just got forgotten after his terrible form last season.
We've got two, small, poachers who are very similar. We could do with a tall, powerful striker to vary how we play. To discard him would be childish and counterproductive.

Not our best forward. His technique is a mile behind Soldado.

Soldado can do thinks Adebayor can't and vice versa. When both are on top form there won't be much between them.

Obviously for whatever reason Adebayor is outrageously inconsistent, and I'd rather have Soldado out there because you know that he won't squander a great chance if it's on a plate for him.

Having said that, if Adebayor works hard and fights his way back into the team through good performances, I won't be complaining.

Technique? What about strength and height?

Adebayor is 6'3". That gives him a huge advantage in holding off players, heading and challenging for the ball.

Have you forgotten about his heavy first touch that gave away position so many times last season. There is little point being able to hold off players if your first touch gives it back to the opposition.

I think Ade is a good player when his head is right, but Soldado is overall a better player IMO.

His heading is dire for a man of his size. He timing in his jump is all off. He's always landing by the time the ball actually reaches him, by which point the centre back has managed to out-jump him. He's a big unit though and can hold the ball up well providing he traps it.

They're totally different and we need both.

If there was some way to know that we would have the Adebayor of the final few matches of last season, we would be in a great position moving forward. But that's the issue with him over the past year. You just never know what you're going to get (See: Forest Gump - box of chocolates).

Adebayor is absolutely incredible when he plays like he did against Chelsea last season. You can't defend him. He plays even bigger than his frame, he's got a beautiful touch, he can play just about any pass and when he's confident there's not a better finisher. He's just so frustratingly streaky. I've actually never been one to challenge his effort. Whenever he comes off the pitch he looks tired as Hell. The problem is when he loses confidence in himself. He lost confidence and for whatever reason it finally came back near the tail-end of last season.

I'm not sure what state of mind he's in right now. I'd love to see him start every Europa League group match from here on out and have him score bucket loads of goals. I think it's more important we get him going than Defoe. He's just such a better overall player and him and Soldado would be incredibly dangerous if both find form.

Really? Last season I remember him being able to play in little triangles with the likes of Lennon and Sandro, and being very good at. His link up and holding play was actually quite good last season, reason why I always felt people were being too harsh with him (though I did understood the frustration, and sometimes shared it). Was I seeing wrong or something?

My memory is of heavy touches breaking down our play. Maybe this highlights how inconsistent he was?
