Adebayor down over Tottenham omission

Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted to feeling low over his struggle to break back into the Tottenham first team.

The Togo international striker is yet to feature for the White Hart Lane club this season having fallen out of favour with manager Andre Villas-Boas.

But the 29-year-old, who has been training with the club's youth team, has vowed to honour his contract at the club and battle past the likes of Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe for a starting berth.

"I have tried to keep my belief but I cannot get any lower. If I am lower than this it means I am dead," Adebayor told The Sun.

"What I found difficult was not training with the youth team, but when it is left to the physio to come and tell me, as one of the senior players in the squad, to go and train with the youth, I find it very difficult.

"I love the game and I want to play football. That's what is important to me. A lot of players have said to me 'why didn’t you go?' I said 'I haven't finished my job at Tottenham'.

"I have three years left on my contract and I'm not going anywhere.

"I'm fully committed, my fitness levels are getting back and I have unfinished business here."

Good loan spell but one of our worst ever permanent signings, cannot say I'm surprised

Never ever ever want to see him in a Spurs shirt again, people with short memories and a love of straw clutching suggesting he should be playing

I have very good memories of how he played before certain neo-GG arrived at club and since then no striker has seemed to perform on league.

This is probably the only thing that I actively disagree with AVB about-Adebayor would be of massive benefit if he was available for the matchday squad. He would allow us to change the system during the game and would offer a lot more options...as well as the fact he is a hell of a better player, ability wise, than Defoe...

I don't understand why everyone is calling for AVB to get Adebayor back. It's not like last season he set the league alight and when he was playing last season people complained and wanted a new striker and now that they have a new striker they want him back!

Thought it worth bumping this thread to acknowledge the excellent shift that Adebayor put in today.

Really gave the Arsenal defence a chasing. Showed great strength, speed and skill up front and worked his bollocks off to track back and help the defence at times too.

If we're being picky, I guess we could say that he might have done better with a few half chances. But overall, I thought he was excellent today. And it was his oft questioned attitude that most impressed.

The one unqualified success of Sherwood's time at the helm.
