Adebayor's injury

Surely if we'd started with Defoe on Sunday we would have tried to get him in behind their back four, in particular Mertesacker, who makes Daws look like Usain Bolt. With Ade, we drew them higher up the pitch. We nearly broke through on about four other occasions before we actually scored.

And he faked the injury in order to get taken off? Really? Honestly?

Of course he didn't fake injury, who said he did?

Well, here's a thought on Ade's situation. We all know that he had a poor pre-season as much his own fault as anyone else's, followed by a poor start. Then he was injured, then suspended for 3 games following the Highbury game.

Following on from that there were protracted discussions with the Togo authorities leading up to the ACN. It cannot have been far from the front of his mind that the last time he played in the ACN, IIRC, was the year of the shootings. I know from my own personal experience that traumatic incidents sometimes come back to haunt you years later. It's quite possible that the faffing around trying to get the flight back, with his team, brought the shootings sharply back into focus. He wouldn't leave them to their own fate and insisted on seeing them home safely.

I am certainly no medical expert, but I have seen PTS up close. It is a real possibility and often young men refuse to talk about it, and that's the biggest danger. I hope I'm wrong 'cause it's not good, but I fear I may be right!

I saw him leave the stadium after the game and he was driving himself. He was all smiles and his demeanor said it all. He's seemed ok and I'm pretty sure he isn't injured at all.

A well considered post. Its not all B&W as some fans see it.

I don't think he's been fit all season - and I don't necessarily think that's his fault. He's had lots of niggling injuries.

But he didn't prepare well during the pre-season, if at all, and I think that's costing him any sort of form now.

I'm still a massive fan of the way the team plays with him in the side, and his holding up play is better than Defoe's (who has improved - don't get me wrong - but is still not as good as Ade in that department).

Ade is unquestionably better in the air with bringing things down etc but in all honesty his first touch is embarassing for a professional, let alone a striker being paid as much as he is. Genuinely on Sunday his first touch was invariably poor and his second, a tackle, hence his yellow card.

At least Defoe runs channels and holds the ball up in a different way, he might not have the "Alan Shearer" type hold up play in that he shrugs off defenders with strength etc but he holds it up by keeping the ball higher up the pitch, allowing our midfielders to join in. Exactly what happened for the Glyfi chance if you watch it again.

Also im not sure Ade's run is as good as people are making out. There was time for Sigy to play Bale through when there was noone close to Bale

bale1.jpg

Adebayor then brings the defender across with him infront of Bale

bale2.jpg

Meaning the pass that was on (If Sigy would have played it!) is now no longer on, Bale checks his run a bit and moves to his right and the ball is played through

bale3.jpg

but its the defender that Ade brings acros that is closes to getting the ball when its played through

some of you need to realise that spurs are on one of their best runs in decades and every spurs player that has contributed to this deserve credit.

I think his hold up play has been terrible. His general game with his back to goal has been terrible, he is poor at making runs in behind a defence. His finishing is awful, his first touch is worse and he's worse in the air than Huddlestone (ok that one an exaggeration).
Between the transfer saga, injury, suspension and ACON he's been an embarrassment this season as far as I am concerned. A complete shambles.
