Just had a look at a Charlton forum, they seem pretty depressed. Some people are bringing up Bostock, but don't they realise that was a long time ago...?

This comment amused me:

'I think he'd prefer to go to a big club rather than Tottenham..........'

Coming from a Charlton fan. The funny thing is that we relegated them.

Starting to doubt our recruitment team, I swear they are just going for players with silly names or with the same name as a player we already have

Found a YouTube video of him. Obviously, it's not comprehensive footage, but he missed a couple of shots. I'm going to say he's not good enough.

Of course I am. He may be chased by some of the biggest clubs in England and consistently picked by a manager who sees him daily in training, but I can predict he'll be a bust. If he was truly quality, his video would have sepia tone editing and 45 second replays of him applying hair gel in celebration with much more obnoxious music in the background.

Spot on. (Joking obvs)

I honestly did think he looked shit from the clips though. No idea how anybody could "like the look of him" based on the assembled clips. Well I do have an idea, it's because people seem to think every single lower league young player we're linked with is going to emulate Alli.

No youngster should go to Chelsea, they'll never be seen again.
This is an important point, if this lad chooses us when Chelsea are pushing hard as an option it will tell us an awful lot about how we are perceived within the game now.

Only 4 goals and 2 assists behind Gray (that just signed for Leicester) in 54 games less. All Lookman's goals came from him playing LW.

Looks like we're trying to assemble the youngest team ever. The elder statesman is Erik Lamela. This is why Townsend just has to go - he's over the hill and clearly his legs have gone, a busted flush - 24 is the new 37.

My missus is a big CAFC fan & I get dragged along to some of their games. I saw Lookman before Christmas in the 3-0 defeat to Ipswich. Have to say, he was the best CAFC player by a country mile, but....and it's a big but, CAFC literally looked like a pub team. I'm going to the FA Cup game at Colchester this Saturday and will keep a close eye on him and add any comments, should there be anything about his play that catcher the eye

He's injured at the moment I think.

Manchester City
hope to beat a host of their Barclays Premier League rivals to the signatures of Coventry City’s James Maddison and Charlton Athletic’s Ademola Lookman as part of the club’s drive to acquire the brightest young English talent.

City are one of a number of top-flight sides – including Liverpooland Arsenal - to have sent representatives to watch Maddison, Coventry’s 19-year-old attacking midfielder, on a number of occasions this season. The Sky Bet League One side are under no pressure to sell but a bid of around £6 million – with the promise of allowing Maddison to remain at the Ricoh Arena until the end of the season – could convince them to cash in.

Lookman has attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace after breaking through at The Valley this season. In an otherwise abject campaign – marked by fan protests against the club’s Belgian ownership – the striker, 18, has been a rare bright note, scoring three times in nine league appearances.

Arsenal sent scouts to each of his first four league games, but City are increasingly confident they are in pole position to sign him if he is allowed to leave. The club’s multi-million pound, ultra-modern facilities have enabled them to attract some of the country’s best prospects in recent years, including one deal, which could be worth an eventual £500,000, for Jadon Sancho, a 15-year-old at Watford.

Lookman should ask Roberts about the benefits of going to City's academy. No easier way to get a big pay-check and disappear.

Roberts wasn't bought for this season though, so that is a bit harsh on them.

I think he was sold the idea of a first team squad place, hence why he saw a lot of time on the bench at the start of the season. Also got lots of minutes in pre-season. Now he has disappeared into their EDS fallen into the pack full of other promising players that won't get a shot.

City had no clearer opportunity to promote a very good player than Denayer who was very good on loan last season and was one of their best performers pre-season. When push came to shove they couldn't resist splurging £50m on Otamendi and packed Danayer off for another season on loan.
