He says he likes Villas-Boas as a person and that he is comes across as very charming - but that it's Andre's management skills and team performances he doesn't rate. Durham's problem is he doesn't like to be proved wrong and that is why he is continually digging a hole over Villas-Boas and it will not stop until either Villas-Boas wins something or he moves on to another club outside England.

correct. He hates Arsenal
I know he's a posh fan,but I personally think the scum are his prem team....his daily arsenal thing is just over compensating to make people think he hates them.it nearly always involves slating wenger, which a lot of scum fans do on a regular basis.

The agendas are different in each case tho. Hard to bundle them together. Sky have their teams they like to big up, BBC tends to be down to the individuals' own bias, Talksport is a 'slag everyone off and see who bites' script

As a whole, I really don't think we are that disrespected. We get some lovely flowery stuff too, at different times in the season. We're just an easy target as we were once one of the huge clubs, but anyone with a brain can see why we are where we are. Arsenal have been in CL 15 times more than us, and make two and a half times our revenue.

Despite this, Arsenal have been slagged off all year too, as have City, as have Chelsea. Even Man U have had the 'this is the worst Utd team in years' stuff for, well, years.

The difference being Chelsea & Man U won something and Arsenal got CL, so those stories have an easily interpreted 'happy ending'. Also hence the massively OTT reactions to 'just' finishing 4th or 'just' winning the Europa - both clubs see it as a fuck you to the media. Just look at the forums, both sets of fans sound like Liverpool fans, they feel as pissed off as us at the media and think we're everyone's favorites

The media is very shallow. They want a story for today, not tomorrow, someone else will have to write that. Right now we've "failed", but we can see the long term picture; most don't care about that

Just ignore them, we're doing things the right way and the rest is just banter frankly
Exactly! He rarely praises anybody because he's quite a negative chap really. Only time he does say anything positive, say about England, it just doesn't even sound right coming from him.

the only time I've heard it is in a cab and i normally ask the cabbie why he listens, most listen to the callers as they laugh and think they're the nutters to take the bait.

BUT 1, 1 sad scary demented fuck actually told me, while waving his nokia brick, that he was on hold and wanted to say his piece. I was scared and laughing at the same time. Well I managed to bolt before he went on air but boy he was really really passionate about some trivial point.

I listen to it on and off in the day mate and that's what i'm doing for a living at the mo. Thing is have you listened to most day time radio? It's mostly shite. Especially around here as you can't pick up loads of decent stuff. It's bloody awful. I'm in the car maybe 12 hours a day and you can't listen to Mp3 player stuff all the time whether it's music, podcasts, audio books or whatever. Atleast when you flick over to talkshite you can pretty much guarantee they'll be talking about footy most of the time, and it's easy listening for me when I can't be bothered to use my brain. Shame most of the callers in don't either but that's a lot of the demographic of listeners i'm afraid.

You are incorrect, he genuinley does not like Arsenal. He does have a soft spot for Spurs in fact.

Think of it from a presenter/producer's point of view. If you're praising something, it doesn't generate calls or interest, it just garners agreement.
If you play devil's advocate or take the contrary view because you believe it, then it generates calls, disagreement, argument, debate etc.

Ofcourse mate. He is really negative though in general. I guess that's why they need the lighter more sunnier Goughy to balance up his show. It was the same before when they had Ian Wright. It's the easiest way to get them to argue. I actually quite like the way he takes the piss out of Goughy for being so shallow and with his dodgy boy band taste in music.

That reminds me. Where's Welshie these days?

I don't use twitter often but seeing some of this has driven me to it. Said to them that most of us are behind AVB and in 1 full season he broke our points record that Harry didn't reach in 3. Got told to "enjoy the Europa".

Shit! I really should have. Just said 'we did and we will thanks', and 'hope Harry enjoys the championship, again.' Don't mean to slag Harry too much but he keeps comparing them so hard not to.

I'll see if I can fit the Posh comeback in ;)

Only reason I would ever ring in would be to try and stitch them up, but I hear they manage to weed out people who try most of the time.

To be honest, I get more annoyed with our 'fans' who ring in than anything Durham spouts.

Agreed, I dont take what Durham says too seriousy, clearly just wumming, I find him funny now. Daily Arsenal is always amusing. With regards some of 'our fans' who ring in, I have my doubts that they're actually Spurs fans, frightening if they are!

He's clearly employed to wind fans up so they call in. He's a Radio troll just after callers/listeners. They do the "Daily Arsenal" thing because gooners complained that he seemed to talk about them every day (mainly slating them) So I'm surprised there's not a "Daily AVB" coz he clearly doesn't rate the fella.
He seems to forget it was his 1st season in charge... Some may even say a transitional season... Even so he still managed record points despite the chairman not 100% backing him in either window. You can also argue he brought Bale on that little bit more to make him stand out this season as a potential World Class player.
He either can't see any of that or he refuses to, simply so he can go on his silly rants.

I listen to TalkSPORT on my 40min journey to work as I prefer it to 5Live. If Durhams on the wind up I simply don't rise to it. If he's being ridiculous I turn over... Simple as that

I find Darren Gough's inarticulate struggle to string a single sentence together that is grammatically correct more amusing than Durham's bull shit.
