After one of the most successful summers in the Premier League, Tottenham could have indeed rested on their laurels and thanked the Lord for the appointment of Franco Baldini and Daniel Levy's transfer nous.
However, it seems that even with a plethora of midfielders that would make most Premier League clubs jealous, André Villas-Boas has decided that one cannot scout too many players and has straight away highlighted his next potential target.
According to today's edition of Le10 Sport, Tottenham's next potential purchase is a Paris Saint-Germain player. On the other hand, it may be one that few know about.
To clear a few things up, Adrien Rabiot, still only 18, is a French midfielder who spent part of last season on loan at Toulouse. Capable of playing throughout the centre of the midfield, whether it be in a holding role or further up the pitch, Rabiot featured a few times under Ancelotti before being loaned out, but it is Laurent Blanc who has recently shown the most faith in him. Playing in every game so far this season, he even capped his eye-catching performance against Guingamp last weekend with a goal from a Zlatan Ibrahimovic free-kick.
Laurent Blanc did not loan Rabiot out and this may be a very important season for the youngster. This will be his chance to prove what he is capable of and who knows? He might even catch the eye of Tottenham scouts?
Le10 seem fairly confident that André Villas-Boas has ticked Rabiot's name on his “to watch” list. They believe Tottenham will scout Rabiot multiple times over the next few months, before trying to court Paris Saint-Germain and the player in hope of a future deal.
It is highly unlikely that the French club will want to part with their talented youngster in anything other than a loan deal but if Tottenham clinch Champions League football at the end of the season, the prospect of playing in a higher standard of league may be too much to resist for little Adrien.

There was a cloud of uncertainty this year surrounding Rabiot and many were expecting Laurent Blanc to send him out on loan to get first-team football. Even the youngster himself said at the beginning of August: “I feel that the manager is showing faith in me in training and in matches. I've got a good relationship with him, but this doesn't mean that I will stay at PSG this season. I might be loaned out, I'm not sure yet. Before deciding, I'm going to have a talk with him”.Laurent Blanc did not loan Rabiot out and this may be a very important season for the youngster.
