Who could PSG possibly sell a player to that isn’t a CL rival? No clubs want to sell to domestic rivals, Madrid and Barca almost never do business for example. Italy, France, and Germany have (currently) monolithic leagues where the top club can sometimes force the other’s hands. But once a player is on 50k a week or so, the number of likely transfer destination gets very thin, and once a player is good enough to play for PSG it’s quite likely they would refuse any move to a non-CL club. It’s just impractical.

I'd have thought they'd be more interested in selling him to a club less likely to dump them out of CL, which is a load of clubs (including us).

I get what you’re saying but transfers don’t ever seem to work like that, for a bunch of reasons. If PSG sell us a player instead of Barca, then not only have they improved us (and since they and Barca are likely pot 1 while we are 2 or 3, they are more likely to meet us in CL than Barca), but Barca still have a squad that can probably beat PSG even before they simply buy another midfielder with their money - possibly even the one PSG would have targeted to replace him. Top clubs sell to each other all the time, except for domestic rivals. Refusing to makes it very difficult to offload unwanted players and just greatly overcomplicates things. And that’s ignoring that a player like Rabiot if wanted at Barca will throw an unholy fit to get himself there.

Adrien Rabiot has informed Sporting Director Antero Henrique that he wants to stay at PSG, but only if his salary demands are met & if he is exclusively played as a box-to-box midfielder; Arsenal & Barça waiting in the wings
I would think that would count Arsenal out immediately, given that Emery just gave an interview like two days ago saying that Rabiot was best as a defensive mid and should only be played there.

Indeed, it should. It should also rule us out, that's if we were ever interested, of course. He's trouble and clearly has attitude issues.

Tottenham have dropped out of the race to sign Rabiot following Barça's offer

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to drop out of the race to sign Adrien Rabiot and instead look at another midfield options. The English side believe the footballer's intentions are clear and that if he doesn't sign a new deal with PSG, he'll sign for Barcelona either this summer or the next one on a free transfer. Tottenham were willing to offer €30m for the player, who only has a year left on his deal, but the project at the Spurs didn't satisfy Rabiot...

So Barca are trying to buy Kante, Willian and Rabiot? After they've already done Lenglet and Arthur?

We probably don't fit his ego.

I really like Rabiots talents, I just think his refusal being backup to the French World Cup squad this summer raises too many question marks for the outlay he'd cost.
