Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is wanted by Sporting Lisbon, according to his agent.

The Russia striker bounced back from an indifferent first 18 months at White Hart Lane by scoring 10 goals in 12 starts last season.

Pavlyuchenko had been a peripheral figure in north London following his £10million arrival from Spartak Moscow in August 2008.

However, despite appearing to win over his doubters during the second half of the last campaign, the 28-year-old frontman could now be set for a move to Portugal.

"Negotiations exist with Tottenham for the loan of the player but I think that this is complicated by money," explained agent Thomas Zorn.

"Pavlyuchenko has a price and the money situation of Sporting makes it very difficult to reach an agreement.

"The contact continues but at this moment the forward is with Spurs.

"If Tottenham reject the player, it is clear that Sporting would be a good destination."

Tottenham have been linked with a move for legendary Real Madrid striker Raul in recent reports.

Am I missing something here? Pav himself has said "if not England then Russia", yet his agent is trying to get him a move to Portugal? I think he needs a new agent, or better still don't have one.

With all due respect Mawspurs, yes you probably are missing something i.e personal access to and conversations with the player regarding his motives and ambitions.

I'd hate to see him go.

He's defo on Harry's 'out' list looking at this. Such a pity. Harry begrudgingly started him last seaon when he was doing well but his mind was made up long ago. We BETTER get someone world class in to replace him cos Defoe and Crouch won't do by themselves....

    :bs:

I heard Jose wants him at Real, along with JJ and Bentley

It seems to me that the agent is running this one, without bothering to speak to his client or to his client's club in advance. Jyst trying to stir up interest in the hope of generating a fee for himslf.

Pavlyuchenko is not the dissembling type - if he said "WTF is all this about?", then he probably meant it. And Tottenham appear to be in the dark as well. So I reckon it's an invention, or at least a lone initiative, from Pav's agent.

Is that even his real agent? Or just a agent?

I suspect you are right and hope the club has a true upgrade lined up, not just someone who played for Harry in his teens or someone he thinks is going to run all day for him.

May well be just a story generated by agent, but a lot will depend on whom we can get in forwards department asap.

Keep the faith sv. our starting striker line up will be Crouch, Defoe , Pavlyuchenko and a marqee signing, (or at least a wigwam or a yurt signing) Possibly Suarez.

ITK's? I eat them for breakfast and speak bullkshit as a result.

Always enjoy your posts JG2, and this one made me both laugh and learn a new word - cheers!

You mean like Sandro? Oh wait.

    You mean Cudicini? Oh wait.

    You mean Palacios? Oh wait.

    You mean Bassong? Oh wait.

No there have been a significant number of signings made by Redknapp that haven't been players he coached as teenagers- in fact I can think of just one, Defoe, added to Cole who you are talking about-as well as players that have flourished under him.

But use agent BS to make another snide dig at our manager, it's really clever.
