This is horrible news.

Very sorry to hear this. Not my era but a name that is synonymous with Spurs.

I met him and Cliff Jones at the Spurs shop before the 5-0 v Swansea in the last WHL season. They both signed the Spurs history book I'd bought for my dad and despite the queue were very happy to exchange a few words and seemed like very nice guys.

Really hope he makes a good recovery.

Poor chap. To be honest though - brain tumour - at 79; I don't think there isn't a 'get well' on the cards at all. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

So sad to hear of this. Gillie was one of my boyhood heroes, along with Jimmy Greaves and Cliff Jones. I just hope that he can respond to treatment.

Truly, one of the real Spurs legends.

unfortunately his career finished the season I started going, but will never forget going to my very 1st UEFA cup match. the atmosphere for a 9year old kid was electric, I believe we won 4-1 Grasshoppers Zurich 1973 (can't remember the scorers), but the one thing I will always remember that night was the song "Gilzean, Gilzean, Gilzean, Gilzean, born is the King of White Hart Lane".

get well soon Gilly wished I had been older to of seen you born the King!
