I thought I'd share something with you. Nearly 20 years ago I was lucky enough to play against an AllStars team in a tournament in Singapore. Alan Kennedy was in the team (also Ossie Ardiles, Gerry Armstrong, Willie and Rene van der Kerhof, Rainer Bonhof, Alex Stepney, Alan Ball, Tony Woodcock and Liam Brady among others). I had my son with me who was, it turned out the same age as Alan's elder son. The upshot was that Alan invited my son to visit and stay with him and his family quite a few years running. Always a fantastic host, often mixing with Everton as well as Liverpool players, often approached in a friendly way in the street by fans of both clubs; always a top top gentleman. Well, he played in a Liverpool Allstars team at Worcester City last weekend. He must be getting on for 60. Played the whole game on a hot day, against pretty much younger opposition. At the end of the game went to the far end where there were maybe 50 or 60 vocal Liverpool supporters and chatted with them for five minutes. Left the dressing room and then with the rest of his teammates went into the Club bar to meet people and sign autographs. He'll be back in Worcestershire in a month or so's time for another charity AllStars match. This time, believe it or not, it'll be with a joint Liverpool/Man Utd team, at Evesham. What a fantastic advert and representative for the game and for Liverpool FC. If you ever get a chance to attend one of these sort of matches or attend a sporting event where he speaks, then I promise you, you won't regret it. Top man. (By the way, our team were shite in that game, we got absolutely hammered.)
