Patience my young padawan. Aurier has had one season in a new country, it's unreasonable to expect someone in his situation to get settled and start playing his best football so quickly. Lamela is the perfect example.
Let's see how Aurier does this upcoming season, I'm not saying he's guaranteed to come good but it's a waste to write him off so soon after he joined.

No of course, but his propensity to fly to the ground was evident as muck on YT videos, and it was his biggest weakness last season too. Would need to see that coached out of him before I am even slightly convinced he'll be mustard.

Thank fuck for that
Why? What other forward targets would you prefer to come in here? Plea should be a perfectly acceptable player at that fee for the Llorente/Janssen place. Martial doesn't look like its happening, the Zaha fee is ridiculous and we haven't been rumored with any other players that could play striker potentially to spell Kane. I don't think we could get many better options for around 25 million than Plea to replace Llorente.

don't think he is what we need. Was thinking about this squad composite:
GK: Hugo, Vorm, Gaz
RB: Trippier, KWP
CB: Sanchez, Verts, Foyth, Toby replacement
LB: Davies, Rose
DM: Dier, Wanyama
CM: Winks, Onomah
FWR: Lamela, Moura
FWC: Eriksen, Jack Grealish (hopefully)
FWL: Alli, Son
CF: Kane, Fernando replacement

Outs: Sissoko, Janssen, Fernando, Aurier, Dembele, Toby, Edwards and a few other fringe players.
Sell all of those and bring in one CB and one CF and we are fine. I believe that Onomah and a host of other FW players including Eriksen and Dele can cover that 4th midfield spot particularly if we are going to try and use 3/5 at the back.

Well for one if he is going to take up one of the none homegrown spots I rather not spend on getting mediocre players , than to sign someone for the sake of.

Even if we don’t sign a forward, surely recruitment in more pressing positions like Erikssen replacement or ball playing CM makes mores sense?

@DCSPUR he fits right in with the Fernando replacement. It's about opportunity cost here, get a perfectly acceptable backup forward in for under 30 million leaving more room in the budget for the central midfielder we need @Singaspursofsixspence .

The HG spots just get more frustrating in every conversation. We should have let Vorm go and tried to buy Heaton off Burnley and then find someone else to take the 3rd choice spot that would be a HG player. Stupid we're having to alter our transfer targets to achieve HG status so we could have a 3rd goalie from freakin Argentina.

Kind of fun to see all the comments hating on him or calling him a squad filler when I know they’ve probably not seen a Nice game in their life.

Less squad fillers , more first teamers should be the theme of our transfer window.

Sadly we all know how this will end up...
But forward is literally the one place where there will be zero competition and we need a squad filler.. No forward in the world of starting champions league quality is coming to Spurs with Kane here, Morata avoided us and I'd imagine we gave up trying to convince similar players.

Do we really need one though (and this isn't about rating plea). Son has done great when covering kane. We also have sterling and griffiths. I'm sure dele could play one of two games as a striker aswell.

I think we at least need one as we're likely to see Llorente and Janssen out there door. I mean we kicked Chelseas ass playing Lamela at forward for much of the second half. I'd just like the option personally.

Why is there a thread for this gimp but not for Malcolm?
Plea is clearly a player we're interested in. Thought about starting a Malcom thread earlier as apparently there some Le10sport report making the rounds we've reopened discussions. I didn't want to search for the article though, thats what @tiger666 is for.

the reason Heaton wants away from Burnley is because he doesn't want to be back up for Pope

even though our wages have increased we are not in a position to pay 25 men top money that means they have to fight for their place. yes they still have to fight for their place, but who do you believe we should sign to compete with Kane, who will then get paid a fortune to sit on the bench

Isn't there a difference though in being a backup on Burnley than Spurs? A decent pay upgrade a chance to be on a champions league squad I don't imagine he'd turn down at this stage in his career.
