So I don't think he's been at his best this season (compared to his fabulous season last year) but he's so integral to our game. I think missing him is a huge part of the reason for our sudden disappointing form.

15 October 2016 to 1 December 2016

West Brom 1 - 1
Leverkusen 0 - 0
Bournemouth 0 - 0
Liverpool 1 - 2
Leicester 1 - 1
Leverkusen 0 - 1
Arsenal 1 - 1
West Ham 3 - 2
Monaco 1 - 2
Chelsea 1 - 2
Swansea 5 - 0

So that's 2 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats. He came back and we won 8, drew 1 and lost 1 of our next 10 games.

1 November 2017

Real Madrid 3 - 1
Palace 1 - 0
Arsenal 0 - 2
Dortmund 2 - 1
West Brom 1 - 1
Leicester 1 - 2

We've actually done a bit better this season but I think that's down to having a better defender in Sanchez in the side. But we don't have Wanyama.

Let's hope the same trend doesn't continue like last year. Unless on his return we have the same response as last year.

Was just thinking about teh impact of Toby's injury and how it affected us last season. Thanks for doing the research to pull the relevant results together. Shows his importance to us.

I can't stress enough the impact of not having toby there at the back. not just his great defending but positioning and basically telling the others to stand 2 yards forward, 2 yards back etc to maximise winning the ball. defending is an art and Imo he is the best at it at spurs

New Year apparently.

Obviously we are all just hoping that was an estimation by Poch and it will be sooner. The injury last season was such a freak occurrence but this one is a bit more run of the mill so hopefully a timescale can be put on it. Even just having him back on the training pitch could be the kind of lift we need.

I must stress that I think missing him and Wanyama is the problem. Sanchez is now here who is better than Wimmer. Had we still had Wanyama doing such a great job, I don't think Toby's loss would be as large and we are seeing that slightly in the results but theres no doubting his importance to us.

Every time we get an injury it always a long term one never out for 2/3 games but out instead for months very unlucky and baffling.

Although I agree we're obviously better defensively as he's one of the best CBs in Europe I don't think we're dropping points because he's out. We're starting games far too slowly, not pressing like we used to and seem to have lost our spark. Add in the poor form of Dele and Eriksen and Kane not being 100% fit. We were just as hopeless v Burnley and Utd away with Toby in the team.

Personally if had choice I'd want Wanyama back in team before Toby, think we massively miss him.
